Free Music Review: Bollywood thru a 70s Funk lens

Not just for Bollywood fans, this CD should also appeal to people that like 70s Blacksploitation and Funk, or themes from cheesy TV drama and movies. Some songs seem direct ripoffs of Hollywood soundtracks, but all of them have a unique style - imagine Curtis Mayfield with tablas, flutes and Indian vocals. Really ahead of its time.
Between most songs are quotes from the movies themselves. The quotes are in English and usually quite campy: "Calling Hong Kong X-Y-U, this is Bombay Dragon speaking!" One song features dialog with a mother begging his son ("John") to please stay at home, escalating to a crescendo of bongo drums and maniacal laughter over backing vocals chanting "John is a Big Boy / Long Live John!" Crazy, crazy stuff!
The CD holds up to multiple listens, and my kids (3 and 6) even get into some of the more funky songs.
