Free Music Notes for These Days

Free Music Review: Simple Review
Hit: 5 Stars

Highlights: These Days (it seemed like Bon Jovi was the only real rock band in 1995 to dare to release a traditional rock album after Nirvana "grungeified" everything to crap - to me this song lamented that condition), This Ain't a Love Song, Lie to Me, (It's Hard) Letting You Go, Hearts Breaking Even. Lowlights: I'm not a big fan of Hey God, and Damned but they're ok. All the other song are good or really good. My favorite Bon Jovi album although on a point scale I rank Have a Nice Day just slightly higher. I didn't realize this was a "darker" album until recently - This was always my cheer me up and get me going album. Excellent Album. Bon Jovi at their best.

Free Music Review: Glad this isn't Bon Jovi "These Days"--I have changed my mind
Hit: 5 Stars

There is really nothing special about this CD. It is O.K. because it is by Bon Jovi. But it is a little dark sounding like the Band wasn't happy. Although it was done at a time when all was well with the band. I have done more listening to this CD and find I have completely changed my mind about it. True it is dark dealing in lack of belief in anything. And several songs of love that was wrong and love that went wrong! But the true "GEM" on this CD isn't dark at all! It is called "Diamond Ring" and is really a beautiful song naturally dealing with an engagement.I have never heard this song performed anywhere, but on this CD. And that is really a shame!

Free Music Review: When masters perfect their art
Hit: 5 Stars

Bon Jovi are one of those bands that I will buy whenever they put an album out. This was the follow up to their "Greatest Hits" album and proved to be laden with hits. There are all the power ballads that Jon is famous for, "This ain't a love song", "Lie to me" and "These Days" are classics.

Perhaps the best thing about this album though are the songs which differ slightly from the norm. "Something for the pain" goes back to the rockier days, while "Someone to believe in" sees Jon and Richie Sambora working together brilliantly.

If you don't have it and you like Bon Jovi, buy it.

Free Music Review: i'm not a big bon jovi fan but...
Hit: 5 Stars

this album [is great]! i can listen to this album over and over and never get sick of it. it's a very moody album which i think was a sign of the times of when it was released.if nothing else, it shows how diverse these guys are as song writers and performers. i know they're better known for catchy pop rock songs but there are some really well thought out ideas here which i'm sure not all their hardcore fans got! i'm actually going to buy their new record just because i liked this one so much. if you haven't heard "these days" yet you don't know what you're missing! buy it!

Free Music Review: One of the Best of All-Time
Hit: 5 Stars

Look at the die-hard websites. Ask the die hard fans (me for one). This is far and away Bon Jovi's best album. It contains two of their five best songs (These Days and Something to Believe In) and remains their most intelligent, thoughtful album yet. The ballads all have extraordinary depth, and Damned rocks as hard as anything (with a breathtaking Sambora solo). For whatever reason this didn't catch on with the general public (perhaps the lack of big anthems), but it remains their strongest effort yet and one that would stand up to the best of almost any other artist.
