Free Music Review: Southern' Fried EVIL
Hit: 5 Stars

Okay, let me say this first: I have been a juggalo for about 5 years now, and I can safely say that after hearing Psychopathic had signed a "southern" rapper, my initial thoughts were than the Wicked Clownz had forsaken everything they once stood for, basically stood up and shouted: "WE. LIED." I myself am, indeed, a southerner, but no one feels ICP's anti-racist messages as strong as the sensible people in the south who are forced to hear such ignorance on a daily basis. I still yet was intrigued, however: AMB, the Hatchet's former new addition, are not original enough to captivate my interest. Hell, the ONLY thing original about AMB is that they don't wear face paint. And yet here is someone that is taking the Wickedness and putting a whole new spin on it. Hell, the entire CONCEPT is original: Taking southern music and mixing it with HORRORCORE RAP? It sounds almost too good to work.
It isn't.
Boondox is perhaps the freshest, and without a doubt most WICKED new artist on Psychopathic in years. Lately, alot of the Hatchet's stuff has been going in new directions (i.e., The Calm) or staying in the same direction but being far, far too soft (i.e., Blood In Blood Out). But Boondox makes me, as well as many of my juggalo homies, go back to a simpler time in our lives, a time when we'd get home from a crappy day at school, close our bedroom doors, and crank ICP or Twiztid as loud as we possibly could, venting off anger and frustration. Boondox is a return to classic Horrorcore Rap- raw, edgy, cold, vengeful, and sometime just downright evil. At the same time, it has an opposing meaning to it, something between the lines, something pure. And at the same time, the Skarcrow is experimenting with the style (as are his producers, particularly Mike E. Clark) and offering the music from a "country" perspective, making all us southern juggalos feel even more at home with the Family. I'll give you a breakdown of the album:

1) Intro (N/A)--Some clips from Children of The Corn and such. Just an intro.
2) Seven (5/5)--DAMN. This is probably the best "introduction" track on a Hatchet album EVER. Boondox is a really good rapper, but it's the killer chorus that makes this track awesome
3) Out Here (4/5)--Basically a song reppin' the south. Great track, and once again, great chorus
4) It Ain't A Thang (5/5)--Boondox's version of the classic Psycho Sex Song. As is expected, it's vulgar, but it also has a lot more meaning than other sex songs of the breed. VERY southern beat.
5)Diggin' Myself Out (5/5)--For some reason, this track isn't listed on the back of the jewel case. But whatever. This is a deep, wicked track that looks deeply into the subject of death and why we fear it. Some might call this kind of song "classic Psychopathic"
6)Lady In The Jaguar (5/5)-- Hysterical song featuring ICP and a wacky 70's Funk beat.
7)They Prey With Snakes (5/5)--The album's "single". AWESOME beat and a lyrical topic that I don't think has EVER been rapped about in, like, the history of rap.
8)Rollin' Hard (5/5)--DEAR GOD. This track is EVIL, EVIL, EVIL. It also has a HARD Heavy Metal beat. About Boondox doing alot of drugs ("rollin'") and then buying a prostitute and...well, if I go any further this may not get posted.
9)The Harvest (3/5)--Featuring AMB. Look, I don't hate AMB. I honestly don't. But this is pretty much the stinker of the album. It's really not bad, it just doesn't go anywhere. The chorus is kind of stupid too.
10)Sippin' (5/5)-- A drinking song. Probably has the most southern beat to it of the whole album. Freakin' great song all-round.
11)Lake of Fire (5/5)--This is, without a doubt, THE BEST TRACK ON THE ALBUM. Absolutely atonishing rock ballad (there's only one bit of rapping at all) and metaphorical lyricism. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.
12)Red Mist (5/5)--KILLER collaboration track with Twiztid and Blaze. A music video was made for this song.
13) Angel Like (5/5)--A slow acoustic rock song about love, betrayal, and murder. Excellent conclusion to the album.
