Free Music Notes for Christmas Is 4 EverFree Music Review: Funky Hip Christmas Album Hit: 5 Stars
Get a jump on your holiday music and pick up Christmas Is 4 Ever by Bootsy Collins. This is the kind of CD you can put on and vibe to while you are cooking Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. As always, Bootsy keeps it funky. It really is one of the most upbeat and energetic Christmas albums that I can recall being released in the past few years. It's quickly become my favorite Christmas CD. Bootsy puts his funky spin on the classics and he even brought along a few of his famous friends. Snoop Dogg is the featured rapper on the song "Happy Holidaze." "Be With You," is another funky new Christmas classic from Bootsy and friends. Zapp Troutman brings the talkbox flavor to this song.
Christmas Is 4 Ever features special Christmas Messages from Bishop Magic Don Juan, Buckethead, Moma Willis, Parison Princess, Roger Troutman (yes, a message from Roger) and George Clinton. Guest vocalists and muscians on the album include Bobby Womack, Charlie Daniels, and many more.
I love this album and could listen to it year round. Christmas Is 4 Ever is in stores now and was released by Shout! Factory.
Free Music Review: I wasn't expecting much but... Hit: 5 Stars
Bootsy's "Christmas Is 4 Ever" has really blown me away. I knew that I wanted this CD just because it was Bootsy! But I wasn't honestly expecting it might be all that exceptional. I thought "How can Bootsy make a Christmas album?". Well, I've learned Bootsy can make a Christmas album quite well thank you very much, lol. And quite memorable. I can see many of these songs being included in my regular rotation of Christmas tunes. And one song in particular, "Winterfunkyland", I would want to listen to year 'round, lol. It's very, very, very funky, lol. You almost forget it's a Christmas song, then Bootsy very cleverly weaves you back from outer-space into the Holiday hook. The entire CD is nice, but I was particularly impressed with "Winterfunkyland". One other note: Charlie Daniels ROCKS on this CD, lol. His contribution to the arrangement is noteworthy and his performance is electrifying (as well as all the string performances).
Free Music Review: "Santa, Santa! What took you so long??" ....ah, the name is Boota-claus, bubba! Hit: 5 Stars
First of all let's get one thang straight: this some coooold Christmas funk!!
The album has Bootsy doing his funky-spacey version of songs like "Rudolf the Raindeer" (now "Rudolf The Funky Raindeer"), WinterFunkyLand and much much more...
it's a real treat for funkateers (or fans of any joyous music for that matter) because everything on here is so well-arrangend and just comes together magically. There are close to no short-comings on this record. Bootsy does a great job on the production, lyrically he is assisted by people such as Snoop Dogg, Belitta Woods, and others and old friends Fred Wesley and Bernie Worrell even hop on for the fun!
All in all a great, funky, piece of music.
Good for winter, good for winter and uh....good to your P-hole, babey!
"thiiis is how we funk for Christmas, sha-lalalalaa, la-funkfunkfunk!"
Free Music Review: Jovial genius. It ain't nothin' but a Christmas party! Hit: 5 Stars
"Make a joyful noise..." Obviously, a call went out from heaven to create the most festive and brilliant Christmas album ever, and Bootsy & company answered, merrily and fonkily. On CI4E, Casper the Holy Ghost has become an avatar of the Spirit of Christmas and has delivered a mirthful masterpiece. Accompanied by four original tracks, these Christmas classics are reinterpreted and revivified, and the music is truly awesome! The infectious arrangements are at times simply dazzling, and after listening to the CD the first time through, it will occur to you, as well, why Bootsy is legendary and lovable. What a heavenly host of gifted musicians; what a gift. Enjoy!
Free Music Review: Bootsy is Back! Hit: 5 Stars
This may be his best album ever! I'm not a real fan of Christmas Music and although I have several 70's Bootsy albums; I expected one or two good songs at best. But every song on this album is ultra-funky. He opens the album by saying that there may be one or two surprises and it takes off --space bass--to the moon.
He even put a Christmas version of I'd Rather Be With You. If you like the Bootsy from Back in the Day and can handle the funk--you won't be disappointed!
