This is a great CD. It reminds me of De-Phazz, Gotan Project, and Tosca, which makes me wonder why my favorite trip-hoppy, jazzy tango-mambo-samba CDs are by Germans. This CD has a much more atmospheric quality that reminds me of the background ambient noise that Up, Bustle, and Out had on their CD released by Ninja Tunes. Maybe this music is of a time whose shining moment has passed, but I can't help thinking that it is so well-crafted, sensuous, and narcotic that it will never sound dated. Maybe the dubbed samples date it. Jazz purists would probably bristle at them, but the listening samples here allow potential buyers to be informed.
I wish Amazon.com would import this CD. They sell it new on their German site for considerably less than resellers are gouging buyers for, despite the strength of the Euro, nevermind the cheap used copies. I don't understand how, in the age of MP3s, anyone can resell overpriced CDs.

After reviewing a few albums on amazon and realizing I hadn't given anything 5 stars yet, I decided it was time to get positive. Maybe the first album that came to mind as undoubtedly deserving a 5-star rating was Satta. This is one of those rare albums with no weak tracks; you don't put this CD on to hear a few favorite songs, you put it on to play all the way through and let the mood wash over you. Don't confuse this to mean that you can sleep through it, though -- the tracks are all strong and varied. While certainly a chill album, it is one that commands your attention regardless, throughout the entire journey. (Different reviewers have felt transported to different places through Satta; to me it's a journey through a mythical, backwoods swampland somewhere in the southern US.) And I dare you to try to make it through the whole thing without breaking into some head-bobbing. I wouldn't even use my beloved Shuffle function on this album, feeling that it would unfairly disrupt the hypnotic momentum that starts building as soon as you hit Play. "Satta" is a very impressive collection of some of the most laid back and funky beats I've ever heard. Ranging from styles of Dub, reggae, rhythm & blues, world and deep downtempo, German duo, Boozoo Bajou has produced quite an ambitious debut that has already become ubiquitous on nearly every chill out album on the market. Rightfully so, because Peter Heider and Florian Seyberth really know how to create music that is easy on the body and soul, yet compelling and energizing at the same time. Songs of note: really, all of them--"Night Over Manaus" is a personal fave, though! "Satta" is hard to acquire, so whenever you see it for sale you better jump on it. Highly Recommended! I don't know what is the reason of the name Boozoo Bajou but i know that as they are originals in the name they are originals in the music.I can't find a kind a music to define this album, tribal R&B? fusion-reggae? trip-hop folk?
It's a mix of all of this and more, the total result it's a fantastic five stars CD.
I know Boozoo from the Costes collection (you can find Night over Manaus in the Costes La Suite)but here you will find the real spirit of this group.
Fantastic (of course also Night over Manaus) are Camioux and Divers but also Down and Out and Under my Sensi.
This CD it's probably only for few people (no easy to find)...but if you love this kind of music you must suggest to your friends as i suggest to you to order now your copy!
