How good do you have to get to consider an album to be essential? I'm not sure but I know what I like & as good as this album is, for some reason, I don't come back to it. I listen to it & I go: Man, what an album; there's not a bad thing on it! And yet.... it may be a month before I listen to it again.
As far as arena rock goes it doesn't get much better than this. These songs were ready to go live the minute they were created. Tom Scholz is a genius, more ways than one, Brad Delp an incredible singer. I imagine the rest of the group doesn't matter that much because all the rest of the original lineup has come & gone.
Boston is a very good album & an incredible debut. So..., why don't I listen to it more often?
