What can I say but the first 2 Boston albums were the first 2 records I ever bought. Needless to say they hold a special meaning for me. I must have listened to those records a million times over during my teenage years. Well here we are some 30 years later and the songs still sound fresh. Nothing else sounds like Boston did back then and what a great time it was. The memories are so fresh from those days, it feels like it was just yesterday. I meet my future wife back in 1976 (she still is!!!) when we were 12 and yes Boston was one of our favorite bands. Great times, great music!!
The new packaging is cool (could have been a little better after some 30 years) as it has a little blurb about the band and so on along with some new pictures. The sound however is were these puppies really kick you in the teeth. This just roars out of your speakers and it sounds so full and very smooth. The difference between these and the original release way back when is not overwhelming, but it's the little things that really make a huge difference in the overall sound quality. Cleaner, warmer, fuller and louder best describes this re-mastering job. I don't know how else to describe these releases other than to say they rock from start to finish. Yes the memories of good days gone bye are flowing back listening to these releases. It's like 1978 all over again. Where's my wife?!
Like I said about the first release, these are special albums from a once great band. I really love the double kick drum in Don't Look Back (listen for it in the solo's section!!), it was always there before, however now you can clearly make it out. Anyway, buy these cd's and remember what great rock & roll should be.
Sadly Brad Delp has passed away recently and I just wanted to ad my thanks for what he brought to my life and the found memories of those days gone bye.
