Free Music Notes for Box Car RacerFree Music Review: Box Car Racer, a harder, better sound. Hit: 5 Stars
Box Car Racer was based by blink-182 members as a side project, but nevertheless, this album is awesome. It produces a harder sound than Blink, and is less mainstream, yet it should suit your tastes. Because blink has gotten a poppier, more mainstream sound, lead guitarist Tom Delonge and drummer Travis Barker decided to go back to the basics. These songs aren't nearly as immature as blinks, and it makes a good punk sound. They aren't doing this for the money, theyre doing it for music, which is great. I got this cd the day it was released to check it out, and its worth the 13 dollars. Tom's vocals are great whether hes singing or screaming. It has some great guest vocalists, including blink bassist mark hoppus on the song, "elevator". Go get this cd.
Free Music Review: A derivative from the "happy" pop punk songs from Blink 182 Hit: 5 Stars
First of all lets get one thing straight, this is NOT a happy album. People have gotten used to the happy, upbeat songs, and fast songs from Blink 182. This is not at all present in this album except for maybe "My First Punk Song", which brings back some of the humor. This album sports sentimental and down to earth lyrics that actually make sense. Perhaps Adam's Song is the best way to describe it. It shows sympathy for the world and the songs are no longer about getting drunk and layed, but about trying to find hope in a world of guilt and deppression. Songs like "Watch The World" and "Letters to God" really shine for this album, and the last song (an instrumental) is absolutely amazing. Go buy this, NOW!
Free Music Review: With Travis Barker, who could expect less than perfection? Hit: 5 Stars
Well, I must say that I'm not the biggest fan of Blink 182. Their juvenile attitudes and toilet humour just don't sit well with me, although at times they are known to be serious (Stay Together For the Kids) and they can also deal with realistic teenage problems (First Date). So when I heard that 2/3 of Blink 182 formed a new band, I was not very inclined to rush out to the store. But I did some research and found out that Tom DeLonge finally grew up. If you like good. solid tunes and rocking drumbeats, pick up this CD. It is a good investment. These songs deal with pain, reality and just being an adult. A welcome change from Blink's sugar coated world that they sometimes live in. Especially Mark Hoppus.
Free Music Review: Sweet CD - - it's worth your money Hit: 5 Stars
Box Car Racer's debut album is awesome. Composed of 2/3 of blink 182 with Tom Delonge's vocals and Travis Barker's drums, they send out a harder sound thats more mature than Blink's style. It goes back to the basics of alternative-punk. There are only one or two songs that aren't great on this cd, but all the others are awesome. This is the type of cd where you want to listen the whole way through. "Tiny Voices", "Watch the world", "letters to god", "there is", are all incredible songs. They put this cd out not to make money and go on mtv, but just to play which is awesome. Overall, its a great buy and worth your money.
Free Music Review: Great Blink side project Hit: 5 Stars
I don't know what some of the negative talk about this album is about but this is one excellent record. although tom said the influences on this record were hardcore bands like quicksand, the refused, and fugazi (who i love, fugazi rules), to me the record sounded like more of an emo sound but was still really good. BEST SONGS: watch the world, and i, tiny voices, letters to god, cat like thief (feat.Tim from rancid and Jordan from NFG), and elevator (feat.Mark from blink). Those are my favorites on the album but you can seriously listen to the whole album all the way through without a flaw. get this record if you like blink or a newer sounding emocore band.
