Free Music Notes for Box Car RacerFree Music Review: Great CD, provides the seeds for Blinks nxt CD Hit: 5 Stars
This CD will probably have somewhat of an influence as to how Blink 182's next Cd will be like (considering two of its members, Tom and Travis make up this project band)... Boxcar Racer was most probably a necessary project, as it will most probably provide the seeds that will aid Blink 182 into allowing them to grow and evolve in their sound and lyrics. Most of the songs on this CD are serious and in depth (with the exception of my First Punk Song, a really fast paced song) and really shows that beneath the scatological and playful jokes, they really have it "in them." Mark Hoppus makes a guest appearance in one of the songs, so he's not totally forgotten and will be sure to feel the impact of the band his other 2 blink 182 fellow members formed. Heres a brief review of the songs (the ones I liked have a *) 1.I Feel So- Its ok lyrics wise I guess, but tune wise not really *2. All Systems Go- I think this one should have been the intro song for maybe obvious reasons, one being the title, as if to say "lets get things started," etc. *4.Tiny Voices- A very good song, has a very catchy power element to it 5. Cat Like Thief- What do you get when you combine a rhaspy voice dude (rancid guy maybe?) with mister fantastically nasal? This song. Actually I like this song a bit. *6. And I- I ammmm...lost in the crowd...Good song 7.Letters to God- A song about God's will vs human will perhaps..."maybe I don't wanna go" should explain it all. *8. My First Punk Song- Great fast paced song, catchy even.. lyrics wise..it's uncharacteristically immature compared to all the other songs... *9.Sorrow- fun mellowsih stringy tune...? lol 10.There is- Pretty strong song, lyrics wise...tune wise its alrite 11. The End with you- Nice power sound element, some hard guitars...lol i know squat about rock instruments...another song concerning a relationship with God... *12. Elevator- My absolute favorite song off this album. Reminiscent of Blink 182's Adam's Song. Guest voice Mark is in it, alternating lyrics with Tom 13. Instrumental- Maybe this should have started off the album, all systems go second, and elevator as the last song. Would have been nicely organized. I dont like instrumentals that much, unless theyre "introducing" Overall: great album, mature and in depth...these guys have it in them

First of all, I'd like to say that there are more than 2 people in Boxcar Racer. Tom and Travis get all the credit, when the other two guys; bassist, and guitarist do a lot of work also. Tom just plays his guitar at times. But Tom and Travis are EXCELLENT at what they do.1. I feel so- I have never liked this song. When It first came out I thought boxcar racr wold suck a big one. It is just too hard and yet too poppy. Does not really strike me as a good song even though the lyrics are powerful. 2/5 2. All systems go- fantastic rhythm. Everything goes well in this song. 5/5 3. Watch the world- great song, has many interpretations. Either about the end of the world, 9/11, or other things but either way an awesome song. 4/5 4. Tiny Voices- great rhythm. I like the beginning part a whole lot, but the interlude REALLY sucks. 4/5 5. Cat Like theif- once again great rhythm, great lyrics. The only downpart is Tim Armstrong cant really sing. 4/5 6. And I- BEST TRACK ON ALBUM. great rhythm 5/5 7. Letter to God- good lyrics, but not really a good son overall. 3/5 8. My first punk song- second best song on the album. The rhythm is once again STUNNING. This song is awesome and it doesnt have as many expletives as people make it to have. Actually a song about people speaking their minds in politics 5/5 9. Sorrow- The only song that kind of gets on my nerves 1/5 10. There Is- great drumroll by Travis, the best drummer ever. Good song 4/5 11. The End with you- FANTASTIC rhythm. great kyrics. 5/5 12. Elevator- WOW, this song shows us the genius minds behind those poppy Blink songs of the past. This is the climax of the album. Tom sings about a person commiting suicide, and a personj viewing it. Possibly having occured during 9/11. 5/5 13. Instrumental- pretrty good instumental 4/5 This album is, no doubt, a great one. The lyrics were well thought out and deep. The rhythms were AMAZING to say the least. Travis, the best drummer ever, showed us his amazing drumming skills, Tom showed showed great range in his voice and in his guitar. The other two members ( Okay, Fine, I dont know their names) did just as well, If I didnt know better, I would think its just Mark, Tom, and Travis. If you ever do ANYTHING, you have GOTT to get this album at ANY cost. Trust me, It is to your benefit.
Free Music Review: Blink 180-Who? Hit: 5 Stars
Box Car Racer is not merely Blink 182 Jr. The band has a more darker sound and the songs are more deeper than the traditional Blink style. I am somewhat of a fan of Blink, but I think Box Car delivers more in their CDs. Tom's vocals and lyrics are better, and Travis's drumming, even though it sounds experimental sometimes, is amazing. So here's the track breakdown:1. I Feel So- A great way to kick off the CD, about finding your way through life. The intro is insanely long, but it's still good. 9.25/10 2. All Systems Go- A fairly good second song, interesting middle part. 8.75/10 3. Watch the World- Apparently some of the lyrics were inspired by 9/11, and they're very moving. 9.5/10 4. Tiny Voices- It's not that great a song, but the voices in the interlude are a nice touch. 8/10 5. Cat Like Thief- Cool intro, and an overall nice song, except much of it is just the chorus repeating itself. 9.5/10 6. And I- A neat funky song that sets a nice pace for itself midway through. The interlude is one of the coolest I've heard. 10/10 7. Letters to God- This song is mainly about Tom telling God that he's not ready to die yet, and that he wants to do more on earth. Starts off quietly and then busts out with exploding electric guitars. 9.25/10 8. My First Punk Song- Seems more appropriate on a Blink CD, and I think this song alone gave Box Car a Parental Advisory. 20+ swears and other bad lyrics in 1:04 can't be good...7.5/10 9. Sorrow- Interesting drumming, but the song in itself isn't the best. 7.25/10 10. There Is- Boxcar's second hit is just as good as I Feel So, and in my opinion, this love song is even better. 10/10 11. The End With You- I could've done without this one, but I guess it's alright. 7/10 12. Elevator- Mark from Blink does guest vocals on this one, but this wouldn't be the smartest way to end the album(seeing as how it's about suicide) and that's why they stuck the instrumental in. It's still a solid song, though. 8.75/10 13. Instrumental- Not too bad, for an instrumental. 7.75/10 So pick this one up, even if you're not a fan of Blink. This album may surprise you...it certainly surprised me.
Free Music Review: Far From Blink Hit: 5 Stars
I am a big Box Car Racer fan, and an even bigger Blink-182 fan. When I first heard about BCR, I thought, oh, its just going to be the exact same thing as Blink, just without Mark Hoppus. I couldn't have been more wrong. It took me awhile before I actually decided to buy the album, and I was shocked to say the least. I heard many firsts for Tom Delonge, number one, the use of the Tremelo bar in I Feel So, and more meaningful lyrics. Tom wrote most of his lyrics for BCR when he was hung up with a back injury. They show emotion, and hardships in his life, rather than the happy-go-lucky lyrics found in blink songs. This cd also gave Travis Barker a chance to experiment different drum styles and beats, he tried putting cloth on the drums to get a different sound. Pop this cd in, and be amazed. Here is a rundown of a few songs:I Feel So- I love the guitar work in this song, good use of the tremelo bar, rad little mid-riffs, great opening song. 9/10 Watch the World- This song seems to have a lot of emotion put into it, the lyrics are a bit obscure, this song makes you think. 9/10 Tiny Voices- Neat little song, not their best work, catchy little phrase "Everybody Will Be Let Down" 8/10 Cat Like Thief- My second favorite track on this cd, it features guest vocals from Tim Armstrong of Rancid, its about a friend who is leaving a girl, and this guy doesnt think that it is worth it 10/10 Letters To God- This is the first hint of religion I have ever heard from Tom, my third favorite song on the album and it is a big change, it goes from acoustic intros, verses, and midriffs, to a hard cut, distortion powered ending. Tom wrote this song about his grandmother dying, plain and simple. 10/10 There is- My favorite track, it is a love song through and through, a nice drumroll by Travis, and just a meaningful song. 10/10 Elevator- Written about September 11th. It features Mark Hoppus on guest vocals, to prove he isnt out of the picture. 8/10 Instrumental- this reminds me of a christmas song, I dont know why, but its fun to listen to 7/10.
