Free Music Notes for Apocalyptic FeastingFree Music Review: Hmmmmm. Hit: 5 StarsI think the first four times I listened to this disc my mouth just hung open.
Being a speed / death metal vet. Yes folks, I'm in my mid 30's.
An old geezer by metal standards.
I'm feeling mixed on this disc.
Why did I give it five stars?
The technical skill here is second to none. The songs? Are they songs?
Sounds like a ton of scales and a few mediocre riffs.
I'm anxious though, I heard they broke up, then I read they reformed.
I'm not the metal version of Dear Abby.
But here's some advice.
Keep the speed.
Drop the imagery. The whole cannibal thing has been done to death.
Start writing actual songs that are memorable and dont have five million different parts to each song.
I'm anxious to see what they come up with next album. I'm afraid though, with the tired out imagery, and if they keep doing scales instead of songs, the public will tire of them quickly.
Speedy and memorable would be the way to go.
Free Music Review: 5 stars just on musicianship alone Hit: 5 StarsNot sure if there are songs here...but good lord the guitar, bass and drum work are almost beyond belief........Technical is an understatement with these guys......Think Yngwie or Rusty Cooley type solo's at all times, non stop, tuned down and never ending, by every member of the band.
I personally on a song level enjoy things like Skinlab, and their new SkinnedAlive live CD is a must buy.
Free Music Review: yikes Hit: 5 StarsAnyone who loves death metal, likes some death metal, or hates death metal should probably pick up this album. Any hype you have heard over this band is well deserved. Its almost hard to believe that these guys can play so blindingly fast with such precision. The drummer is probably the fastest you'll ever hear, the guitar riffs are very unique and go well with the whole album, and the bass player manages to keep up with what the other guys are doing with an 8 finger tapping technique (and yes he finger picks). I might even venture to say that this is one of my new favorite albums. Even if you don't like death metal much, you will appreciate the musicianship on this album. Highly recommended.
Free Music Review: listen before you buy Hit: 3 StarsI don't think this is a bad album. I do think it's overrated. IMO Braindrill are talented musicians making average music. This is generic death metal w/ a flashy solo thrown in every 2 or 3 songs. The bassist could use more oppportunities to shine, too- the music D/N take advantage of his gifts. When their songwriting catches up to their technical chops, they'll be something special.
Free Music Review: Brutal Hit: 5 StarsBrain Drill delivers relentlessly brutal death metal on every track of Apocalyptic Feasting. Every aspect of the music is hyper fast and technical, while still providing memorable riffing, vocals, etc. Excellent death metal.
