Free Music Review: It's difficult to find a better album than this

In a modern music world, where music isn't really that anymore, it's wonderful to hear something beautiful again. Too often, what Billboard hypes as the next big thing, or commercial radio replays over and over sounds too much like something we've already heard. However, where did this 26 year old folk master come from? As a host of a radio program, I listen to a lot of music each day, some good and some horrible. I hear a lot of unoriginal stuff that someone is trying to use to make an easy buck, or some record company is praying will be a hit. There are few occasions when I get to truly just sit back and enjoy not just a single, but a whole album. I have to say that I listen to this album cover to cover (as they say) on a regular basis, and it doesn't get old. "Throw It All Away" could easily become the best song of the last 3 years. But any of these tracks could be that for you. And don't stop with this self-titled release. "The Story" is another great album all the way through. You'll eat this up and still be hungry for more. A friend of mine recommended Brandi Carlile. First thought, "Brandi, eh? Hmm... doesn't even sound like someone I'd be interested in investigating". Carlile.. "Okay, interesting spelling. Where's the "s"?" I checked her out and she has been creeping into my soul ever since.
I was intrigued enough to see her live and well... as every other reviewer here who has commented on her live performances, she is incredibly powerful!!
Her songs are beautiful. A complete pop sensibility. Every turn, even when one thinks a particular song might be boring, is raised to another level. Every song on this CD is delightful and easy to listen to over and over. Not only that, many of these tunes have become some of my all time favorites.
If you've stumbled upon this review never having heard Brandi, please explore further. You won't be disappointed.

This is the only album that I've ever loved every single song on it and I can play all the way through without feeling that urge to skip over songs to get to my favorites. I don't think it's fair to list highlights, since I think every single song is fabulous. The songs are diverse enough to remain interesting but they are all solid. She is absolutely amazing. I recently saw Brandi Carlile in concert and was stunned by her performance. She has the best live voice I have ever heard. Since seeing her I bought both of her recent CD's and they are equally as amazing. This little girl was given the gift of song and soul. Absolutely incredible.
