Free Music Notes for Breaking GlassFree Music Review: Correction of paraphrase from earlier review Hit: 5 Stars
I'd like to make a correction in my earlier review where I purportedly paraphrase the song "If Only". I have seen the lyrics on the Internet, and the line is ". . . I won't be the one/Who despairs in the wheelchair, resigned to 'If only'". I heard the word "resigned" as "sighing" (or something like that). Apologies to Hazel, and I stand by my rave review of this album.
Free Music Review: Echormq is obviously insane. Hit: 5 Stars
I don't know what Echormq is talking about. I will admit that the film was not exactly "Chariots of Fire". And I have played the CD for one punk rock fan who thought that the music was very 1980s -- dated, as Echormq says. But that does not mean that the music is not great. Ignore Echormq and put your milk money where it belongs . . . into buying this album as soon as it is available.
Free Music Review: Follow-up to my review: Why Hazel is not a superstar. Hit: 5 Stars
I saw Hazel's live act in which she explains what happened to her career. Like many artists, she was done in by what Ray Davies of the Kinks calls "The Moneygoround". She was bullied into signing bad contracts, cheated of money made from her songs, and frozen by litigation and debts. It's a shame because she's a powerful, passionate, and eloquent performer.
Free Music Review: A troubling prophetic album sung with self-centered bravado Hit: 5 Stars
Hazel never really lived up to her promise artistically or commercially, but if anybody wants t listen to the "Meatloaf" of 1980's punk, this is a must album. Like other one album wonders, its always worth going back to. It is a fusion of punk, early techno, and jazz in an addicting production that is much like a traffic accident-you can't help looking.
Free Music Review: Only need one word- SMASHING! Hit: 5 Stars
Angst, timelessness, energy. Hazel O'Connor was WAY ahead of her time when she put this together. One of my top 20 favourites, right beside "Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols." Have a MINT condition copy on LP, trying like mad to get the CD. It's worth the search.
