If you are a fan of Brett Michaels then you will like the album. My wife loves it. It was a gift for her. It is not my fav, but I never cared for Brett Michaels.Free Music Review: Oh Man, This was bad

Granted the last release prior to A Letter from Death Row should have been the Crack A Smile record, it had been nearly 7 years since any member of Poison had released something. So you can imagine our anticipation for this album. My first clue into knowing this album was going to suck was that it kept getting postponed to be released. It took nearly 6 months for this album to come to stores after it had been "released". I finally got it at a store that specializes in hard to find releases, and paid nearly twice what it was worth. When i got it home, i tore it open and quickly realized why it was so hard to find. The recording is awful. Bret must have burned these things himself, as the recording quality is awful. Second, there is no cd book, just an insert that is poorly made.
I am a huge poison fan. I own all their cds, dvds, and even all the solo records. I will continue to buy them. Its just funny how some of these fans can't ever say anything dirogitory about a bad item. Im sure hearing these songs live would be a different story. Im sure Bret would perform them well.
When I had heard that C.C. was going to play guitar on the lead track, I was really excited. However that seems to be the only highlight on the album. There is a song that Rikki Rockett appears on, but its a really weakly written ballad with is the 3rd track on the album. The last track, is awful. Steel Bar Blues is just terrible. The whole album is pretty much a loss, because I just don't think a lot of effort went into it. If you followed Poison as closely as I did in the early to mid 90's, all you read about was that Bret was going to do a solo record from 94 on, and if this is what he worked on for 4 years, then I would be pretty surprised. I know that in that time as well, he wrote some country demos, but those were awful if you heard those as well. Listening to this album made me wonder, "what happened to the guy that wrote "life loves a tragedy", or "stand"? Well, I will tell you what happend. There is no producer for the solo albums. no producer would want to have the quality of the recording held against them like this album sounds. I know that Bret has it in him to be a great singer/songwriter. That is why he needs to shell out some of the money that he has been making on the Poison tours, and get a good producer to man the helm. Then we will see the true colors of Bret Michaels.

Michaels rightly couldn't get anyone to distribute his poorly conceived, written and acted golden turkey of a movie, so he was reduced to sell it on his own website. For those thinking that the soundtrack would be the "silver lining" of this dark storm forget it. It's mundane and trite...just like Bret!Free Music Review: Michaels Death Row

I love Poison but this album is terrible with the exception of maybe 2-3 songs. I was very disappointed after listening to it. The lyrics are cheesy and the tunes are not catchy. I do not know what the other poison fans see in this album. If you really want to hear this album, borrow your friends and dub it.
