Free Music Notes for Songs of LifeFree Music Review: Excellent Album by Poison Singer!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a really excellent album. The rumours that he held back his best material for his solo album rather than put it on Poison's "Hollyweird" album must be true, but it makes me wonder why he doesn't just breakup Poison and go it alone if that's how he feels. He proves here that he's a very capable solo artist. On this album he stretches out a little more than he ever has on a Poison album. While he includes four or five Rockers that should satisfy fans of Poison's louder side, he also gets into more Ballads and Mid-Tempo songs on "Songs Of Life". Some of his Mid-Tempo songs are a bit Bluesier or show a bit of the John Cougar Mellencamp/Bob Seger School of Heartland Rock influence. Some of the ballads even show a little bit of a 1970s Elton John influence. While he still has four or five songs with some "I don't care" or "party hardy" lyrics, on many of the Ballad and Mid-tempo songs he has written some really thoughful lyrics on abandonments, marriage, war, and the sadness of insanity that show he is thinking about more than just a goodtime now, and it also sort of rounds out his appeal a bit to show that he thinks of other things from time to time. If you loved Poison in the late-1980s and early-1990s, you should get this album because it's a good extension of that kind of music from a bit older point of view at times, but most of us are older and more thoughtful than we were then.
Free Music Review: Michaels knows what music is Hit: 5 Stars
This album by Bret Michaels complete with personal feelings, experiences and Michaels trips through life is better than I expected. When I read the reviews, I was having second thoughts about buying the album but I figured I loved Poison and Bret so much that I'd buy it anyways. I wasn't the least disappointed. 'Loaded Gun' is similar to Poison while songs like 'Forgiveness' is completely Bret, new, fresh and great sounding. Bret definitely has the talent when it comes to slow songs. 'Stay With Me' is one of the saddest songs I've ever heard. 'One More Day' is about asking God to give him another day to live his life. 'Raine' is a song dedicated and written for his daughter, Raine Elizabeth, it's a sweet song. 'Menace To Society' shows Bret going into a more punk direction. This CD has it all and I love ever inch of it. 'Songs Of Life' is from start to finish a beautifully written about and it's a must for any Poison fan. Exceptional lyrics on the slow songs, awesome melodies and hooks, just brilliant from start to finish.
Free Music Review: Songs Of Life, I get it! Hit: 5 Stars
What an awesome suprise. Bret Michaels is not just a Hotty. Since his heavy party stardom in the 80's, he has become an honest, balanced, sincere man- father- and yes...still a serious hotty (did you see those pictures?!) This album "Songs of Life" is exactly that. Different parts of Bret's personality and life shared with the world. Still the sex GOD in "Loaded Gun" and "It's My Party", the comedian in "Bittersweet", and the amazing ballad writer that touched my heart with "Every Rose Has a Thorn" the ballads on this album are equal if not better. "Raine" and "One More Day" absolutely fill me with emotions that I have'nt felt from music in a very long time. His honesty and openess in his lyrics have reconnected his long time fans with who he is today. I guess we have all grown up. I would recommend this to not only Poison fans but anyone who loves great music.
Free Music Review: Songs of Bret!! Hit: 5 Stars
Poison are a band of pure synergy, each one gives something that creates that magic we know and love about them. Bret Michaels is very deep, in the sense that when Poison first started out he and CC, Bobby and Rikki all seemed to be enjoying what they did and probably wouldn't go the distance.
Bret has matured so much both in his voice and his song writing ability just shines through the older he got. His shown the world that he is good and he is here to stay. And as long as he keeps writing songs like Raine, about his daughter, Party rock band (good to hear CC on guitar)and Loaded gun. His secured his position as a really fine singer/songwriter.
The only problem with Bret is that it's difficult to get his albums over here. As it is with CC, Rikki and Bobby, on their own solo/colaberations.
This album is superb. Rock on Bret!!
Free Music Review: Got Attitude? Hit: 5 Stars
This cd really shows how well Bret can shine on his own. Don't get me wrong I love him with Poison, but when you listen to this cd you can really hear the difference in the music from the start. Personally i like the sound he has w/Poison better, but the songs he has on THIS cd really have ATTITUDE!
It's really refreshing actually. He covers everything from Break-ups to his first Daughter (Raine) to just standard songs.
Being a female, i'm not really into the song he wrote for his daughter, don't get me wrong its pretty and sweet, but if you like Bret it's like the last thing you really want to hear him sing about is a kid! sorry.
Not bad overall though.
