Not unlike a Poison album (and much better than Hollyweird) this is a good cd for Poison fans while awaiting the next record. Brett really has an urge to do bluesy stuff, but he balances it out nicely with rock. Lyrically he's come along away from LOOK WHAT THE CAT DRAGGED IN.Free Music Review: Bret On The Edge

I bought the CD because I am a huge Poison fan. Saying that, I wasn't sure what to expect from Bret alone. Edgy yet 80s and very good. I gave it four stars as he could have done it with the band and I would have enjoyed even more.Free Music Review: Songs of Life

If you are a fan of Brett Michaels then you will like the album. My wife loves it. It was a gift for her. It is not my fav, but I never cared for Brett Michaels. It is better then the "Death Row" album.Free Music Review: Incredible Performer meets Crappy 2nd Solo Effort

Granted I will always purchase anything these guys put out regardless of if its crap or not, Brett, C.C., Rikki, or Bobby are incredible performers. You can't take any of that away from them. However in 1998 when Bret's first solo effort was released, I was VERY dissapointed. I think the Letter from Death Row effort was as bad as the new Gene Simmons album, if not worse. Here we are now nearly 5 years later and we get a new album from Bret. This album started of kinda silly with a song that Bret says he wrote before Poison really got going, and you can really tell. Bittersweet is a great rocker. Its not only the best song, but its better than any song on Poison's last release Hollyweird. If poison would right 12 songs just like Bittersweet, we would have the return of the greatest rock band ever the size of which Bon Jovi did with Crush!! However, instead we got Hollyweird which didn't move many units. But back to Bret, this album is awful. From really weak songwriting and lacklust guitar riffs, this album was really boring.

The video for rain is awful
all the ballads on the album were not thought out well...Bret, hire a producer next time...I know it costs money, but you will please your fans a lot more!!
All in all, I will buy whatever they release...and I should be thankful that they still release albums at all. At least the annual Poison tour consistently happens!
