Free Music Notes for Second Wind AlbumFree Music Review: Great undervalued leader and band Hit: 5 StarsBrian Auger is, sadly, living proof that some of the very best musicians remain forever unknown to the majority of music listeners. He is, first and foremost, an incredibly dynamic, fiery, fluid keyboard player, with strong Jazz influences. He's also a skillfull composer whose tunes deal with life's daily challenges and spiritual aspects in a very uplifting, positive way. Lest this suggest some sanctified, mellowed-out, New Age pablum, forget it-- this is lively, colorful, intense, compelling jazz-rock-- it cooks, burns, steams and funks. People seem to either love or hate Alex Ligertwood's singing; I for one find his vocals ideally suited to Auger's musical universe. The songs really come alive through his vocals. This is a terrific album by a fine band-- certainly one of the best from the mid-late seventies era. Also check out "Live Oblivion I, II".
