Free Music Review: An album you should get

Anton Newcombe has been the leader and source of this band for thirteen years. They are offensive, toxic, and dangerous. They are on a new label and this is their tenth or so record. Let's say they are past one hundred songs into this project, BJM is as strong and meaningful as ever. Even Ed Harcourt and Kurt Heasley (of The Lilys) sing lead vocals on this album, and pay tribute to the man. Anton promised people like Jason Pierce, Will Sergeant, and The Church, but they didn't show up. So in many ways this is a tribute album to the genius of this band's history, and looks forward without fear to the future. Matthew Tow sings the first slow song "Starcleaner" which starts out with the minimal sound of a drum machine and organ. "Here To Go" recalls some of the drugged out acoustic they have done. Some of the better songs are the Dandy Warhols sounding "When Jokers Attack" and "Prozac vs. Heroin" and especially "Geezers" which is the most blissed out song on the record. Maybe there's some chill out room music here. After a few throwaway tracks, we get to the great vocals of Ed Harcourt on "Here It Comes." Then there is the Church inspired "A New Low in Getting High." After listening to this I am not sure if Newcombe is God or the son of God. This record goes in twelve different directions at the same time. Most music is so narrow. This is the best BJM album in a long time.
