For those not familiar with the BJM, this album is an excellent introduction. Shunning commercial complications early in their career, Anton and company have not enjoyed the recognition that they deserve as one of the best bands in music. Anton is a "mad" pop-genius who is simultaneously muscular and sensitive in his songwritting approach. This music blows most of the "new rock" pap away. Receiving just dues for your work shouldn't be considered a sin, should it. Spread the word about the BJM and spend a dollar to support quality music.Free Music Review: The gems sparkly like diamonds

Run buy this product now! Discontinued by the manufacturer. 13 copies remaining?! Song quality is spotty, but same goes for the albums. The gems sparkle like diamonds. It's a shame Anton was crazy and couldn't keep a band together. They could've been the next Beatles or Stones. This man put his heart on the line for all to hear. And the music is timeless. In a perfect world, this would be heard on the radio as "classic rock" a few years from now. But all we have is Amazon.com, so buy the freakin' disc already!Free Music Review: stunning!!!

First heard about BJM from DIG! documentary and decided to start with the Tepid Collection. I was completely blown away at the variety of influces that can be heard. From the Rolling Stones to Velvet Underground to eastern influences etc. This album is truely a celebration of music. You could almost see the yearning of Courtney Taylor (lead of the Dandy Warhols) to be in the band.
I thoroughly recommend this album. Gives me hope that among all the crap that is on the radio and TV an album like this exists

This is a great double album. My brother introduced me to The BJM and Dig! the documentary. There's no argument the BJM far surpass The Dandy's. The Dandy's create songs that are catchy which inevitably lead to annoying. The BJM and frontmand Anton Newcombe are much more introscpective. Nevertheless, When Jokers Attack, Open Heart Surgery, and, Swalloetail are just a few tracks that show they're genious. I highly recommend everyone checking this out as well as Dig!Free Music Review: simply good music

I really love this group.The folk rock resonates with my love of mid 60's Byrds, Dylan and early airplane.A real tonic for lovers of that era,and quite simply good music.
The songs are well crafted,and the production always rings honest.
The name of the group ailienated my interest,but I'm glad I tried this compilation!
Some deride this group as retro...give me retro anyday if that's what this is!
