Free Music Notes for From There to Here: 1989-2002 AlbumFree Music Review: One of R&B's Best Balladeers and That Voice... Hit: 4 StarsBrian McKnight is arguably the greatest male R&B singer today. His range and the way he commands his voice to flow over tracks is rivaled in R&B by only Kenny Lattimore. And on this disc you are given all of the singers most well known songs. Always inspiring, this greatest hits compilation is one of the few to live up to the name. The disc starts out with a new track, though it is vintage Brian. Never one to deliver a schlock performance, Brian presents the beautiful "Let Me Love You" which harkens back to soul songs of years past. The disc simply has too many highlights, but the best tracks include: 'The Way Love Goes', 'One Last Cry', the smash hit 'Love Is' ft. Vanessa Williams and his wonderful rendition of 'Crazy Love'. Recent hits also appear in the form of 'You Should Be Mine' ft. the now retired Rev. Mase [ :) ] and vocal powerhouse Kelly Price; the majestic 'Back At One' and the Grammy nominated 'Love of My Life'. The only track which was better left off the album is 'Do' ft. Mr. Cheeks and Baby. I don't mean to suggest that it is a bad song. Brian's vocals are as perfect as ever, but the addition of these two rappers do not mesh well at all with the song. In all, Brian McKnight's greatest hits is complete and satisfying. Outside of the one track I cited above, there is no filler. Just a great representation of the work of one of the best singers of the 90's and today.
