Every person out there who appreciates jazz and swing should be thanking Brian Setzer (and the Gap commercial) for bringing swing to our generation. I listened to the Glenn Miller version of "Pennsylvania 6-5000" and it is the most HOKEY song I've ever heard. Brian Setzer did an ASTOUNDING job of making this a listenable song. "Caravan" makes me want to dance with it's deep drums, and "Mack the Knife" is wonderful in its trueness to the original but still being something new (I still like Louis' version better though). "Americano" is my new favorite song. All these songs have such a great beat. Okay, "In the Mood" is a little silly, but no worse than that ridiculous Glenn Miller song. As for it being danceable, I can't count the number of people in my college swing dance class who used Brian Setzer for their final dance project.

Every parent out there who wants their kids to appreciate really good old music should start them with this CD. That's how I first got interested in swing, then jazz. From this CD it is a small step back to the originals. But you shouldn't knock it for being "new swing." Consider Brian Setzer a stepping stone. And then thank him for it. He made old songs fun and interesting to kids my age and younger with his new style.

It's NEW SWING. Get that through your heads you old fogies stuck back in the 50's. Brian Setzer has a great voice, he's no uglier than Louis, and thank goodness, I can still listen to swing and be "cool." This CD rocks. Young people will love it!!

Oh, and stop using the word "muzak" to describe this CD. How unoriginal is that?
