Finally available after a ten year hiatus. I had to get the out of print version on E-bay. But this version is worth it. Sonically better than the original release, with many unreleased tracks. The harmonies on this album are gorgeous-check out One For the Boys. Brian hadn't reached a musical peak since Love You. As I think back, why wasn't this album a hit in 1988? The songs are soooo much better than the dribble that was out at the time---Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Rick Astley?? Love and Mercy should have been Top Ten material. The same can be said about Imagination, released in 1998. That is music---not Korn, Limp Bizkit blah blah blah. They wouldn't know how to write a decent song if their lives depended on it. This album just proves that Brian and his music are timely and timeless. Now if Brian could release Sweet Insanity......Free Music Review: What a wonderful debut!

I first purchased this album in the early '90's in a rack full of tape cut outs. At that time, I was very young, loved the Beach Boys but didn't even know who Brian was or that Brian was even part of the Beach Boys. When I listened to this album, my jaw hit the floor. I loved every song and was shocked to find out that it wasn't deemed successful at first. I still continued to listen to it and soon found out that Brian Wilson himself was a mover and a shaker of his time. I always felt that Brian's "Imagination" album was part II of his 1988 debut. Each song on this debut is enjoyable. You can hear the joy that Brian puts in every song. If you are a Beach Boys or Brian Wilson fan, this solo debut is not an exception. Now, with all the bonus tracks added, what more could anyone ask for? It is a must have!Free Music Review: Pocket Symphony

Hello Brian Wilson fans,I have been a BW fan since I was five. This is my favorite album ever. Melt Away remains the most spiritual and most magical song I've ever heard and may ever hear. I love this record and am sorry it was not promoted better than it was. That's probably the main reason why it didn't fair well commercially. BW got me through the roughest time of my life and continues so today. I love this man. He is the purest soul on this earth and I only wish him happiness and continued success. I try to write all my vocal arrangements as inspiring as his. If you believe in magic, believe in Brian Wilson. For the first month it was released I listened to this album two or three times a day, 7 days a week. It remains my most listened to album. I just absorbed it. And you will too. Enjoy!

I am a bigger fan of Brian Wilson than the Beach Boys in general, so for me this solo album was an instant classic when released in 1988. Rhino usually does a good job with re-mastering, and this re-issue is no exception. The sound is cleaner than the original CD. But what really makes it worth buying (again) are the bonus tracks. "Being With the One You Love" is a great song. The working tracks for "Rio Grande" illustrate Brian Wilson's incredible gift for combining separate musical ideas into a finished song. The demos are as interesting as the fully-produced tracks. Also check out "Orange Crate Art," "Imagination," and everything else by Brian Wilson.Free Music Review: MASTER AT WORK

THIS LONG AWAITED ALBUM IS A MASTERPIECE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CONSIDER WHAT BRIAN WAS GOING THROUGH WITH HIS LIFE IN THE 80'S. WHILE DR. LANDY'S NAME HAS BEEN DISASSOCIATED WITH THE ALBUM, BRIAN SURROUNDED HIMSELF PEOPLE LIKE ANDY PALEY, JEFF LYNNE, LENNY WARONKER, AND RUSS TITLEMAN. THESE PEOPLE CARED ABOUT BRIAN AND HIS MUSIC AND IT SHOWS. THE SONGS ARE ALL TOP NOTCH AND THE EXTRAS ON THIS ALBUM SHOW WHERE BRIAN WAS GOING WITH SWEET INSANITY AND THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED AS AN ALBUM. IT ISN'T AS BAD AS EVERYONE MADE IT OUT TO BE. ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS OF THE 80'S, IT STANDS UP WELL TODAY!
