Free Music Review: This is musical honesty

These days it's hard to find artists who do it from the gut. Brian Wilson is one of those guys. He sings with his own voice, with all it's warts. There's no autotuner used, and the harmonies were sung in a group, not individual tracks. You just don't get that anymore.
SMiLE was a chance to put away his demons of the past, and this album lets him look back fondly at the past, something I don't think he could have done before. It's a love poem to his beloved Southern California, and it evokes the memories of those carefree days of woodies and surfboards. It's a true joy to listen to.
This may not be Brian at his greatest, but it's a great deal better than the dreck currently played on many radio stations these days.
