This film is not just for IndoAmericans. Sweet version of Pride and Prejudice. Music is wonderful.
Free Music Review: great film - whole family enjoyed it Hit: 4 Stars
Everyone in my family is a fan of the Jane Austen novels/films and Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly has always been our favorite. This Bride & Prejudice is great with the story line similar without slaving to the exact original plot.
The first dance scene ("Balle Balle") in the first 10 minutes of the film lets you know that this is going to be a musical with exciting dances - unexpected for a Jane Austen film. The first song suddenly made us fans of the India style music.
The second song ("Marriage Has Come to Town") seems out-of-place and hokey but upon multiple viewings, I look forward to it.
My third favorite song is "Dola Dola" which is the stick dance song.
The one criticsm I have is the sudden wrap-up of repentent Darcy's make-up tasks - saving the younger sister from Wickham and salvaging the older sister's marriage. It all happens so quickly you might miss it.
Watch for the bloopers at the end.
This is our first introduction to Ballywood films and it was a great experience. We liked it better than "I Have Found It" which is parallel to Sense & Sensibilities.
Free Music Review: As delightful as the film itself Hit: 4 Stars
The soundtrack of the film Bride and Prejudice is a delight to listen to and infectious. While listening to it I couldn't helping humming to myself or even singing aloud, not mentioning the private bathroom dancing I performed.
The more I listen to the music, the more I am getting to like it, even those songs I was not so fond of when first seeing the film. It has a charm that grows on you gradually.
The wedding song is funny and exotic at the same time, makes you feel part of a different, but exciting and rich culture. The song "a marriage has come to town" is one of my favourites, so are the 2 exotic and sexy songs performed by Ashanti. I was very happy when I saw that the song "Arrogance, pride and vanity" -which unfortunately was cut out of the film, although you can find it on the dvd in the Special featurette - is actually included on the cd.
If you like the film, you shouldn't miss out on the soundtrack either.
