Free Music Review: A fantastic debut album from Britney Spears!
Hit: 5 Stars

Britney Spears released her debut album, Baby One More Time in January 1999. It went straight to No.1 and has so far sold a staggering 14 million copies in the US alone and is the third biggest selling female album of all time! It has worldwide sales of more than 25 million and has spawned the massive hit signles Baby One More Time, Sometimes, (You Drive Me) Crazy and Born To Make You Happy. This is an essential album for every Britney fan - buy it now!
The album kicks off with Baby One More Time (10/10). This was released in February 1999 in the UK and went straight to No.1 shifting almost 500,000 copies in its first week! It was the biggest selling debut single of all time, until Hear'Say (Pure & Simple), Will Young (Evergreen) and Gareth Gates (Unchained Melody) pushed it into 4th place. But the Top 3 were all incredibly famous before releasing their debut single - Popstars and Pop Idol whereas Britney was unknown before the single was released. I think this proves who had the better No.1! Regardless, Baby One More Time went to No.1 in more 30 countries worldwide and was the biggest selling single of 1999 in the UK selling 1,445,000 copies! Track 2 is (You Drive Me) Crazy (9/10). The single version peaked at No.5 in the UK in September 1999. This isn't the single version or the video version. This isn't as good, but is still great! Sometimes (10/10) is Track 3 and peaked at No.3 in the UK in June 1999. This relaxing and sweet mid-tempo ballad is the perfect summer pop choon to laze away those hot days! Track 4 is Soda Pop (8/10). If there was ever a definition for pure bubble-gum pop, this is it! This song has very silly lyrics, but is very infectious - so infectious it's almost corny! Born To Make You Happy (10/10) is Track 5. This was Britney's fourth single and went straight to No.1 in the UK in January 2000. It was also another massive smash hit all over Europe. The lyrics are so emotional and beautiful and Britney's voice is on top form. Track 6 is From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart (10/10). This is the album's best ballad and was released in the US only. I think the video is one of Britney's best to date! Her voice is absolutely phenomenal on this song. A lot of people say that Britney can't sing, but this song will definetly prove you wrong!

Track 7 is I Will Be There (10/10) and is a very middle-of-the-road pop anthem. It has a very Hanson-like feel to it with its strumming guitars and poetic lyrics. I Will Still Love You - duet with Don Philip (9/10) is Track 8. This is a mid-tempo pop ballad featuring a virtually unknown Don Philip. Although he has a brilliant voice with an exstensive vocal range, he does pull the song down a bit. Track 9 is Deep In My Heart (10/10). This is a great, funky pop track and one of the albums' highlights - nothing more to say! Track 10 is Thinkin' About You (10/10). This is another up-tempo pop anthem with some pretty ... lyrics, but great beats and vocal arrangements! E-Mail My Heart (9/10) is Track 11. This ballad is great, but is rather strange with its references to Internet E-Mails! Track 12 is The Beat Goes On (9/10). This is a cover of the Cher classic, and Britney certainly does it justice! Her voice is great for the song and she should feel proud of herself.

OVERALL GRADE: 10/10

Britney's debut album is a wonderful effort that is bound to become a classic, thanks to phenomenal worldwide sales and the hit singles it features. Britney is the biggest star in the world and I think she will continue to reign supreme in the future if she continues to re-invent her image and look. If you like Baby One More Time, you have to buy the second and third albums Oops!...I Did It Again and Britney, which have sold 35 million copies between them! But if you want to choose a Britney Spears album to listen to first, buy this ...now!

Free Music Review: A Testament to her talent; Deserves it's Diamond status
Hit: 5 Stars

Backgrounds by Britney. As well sung as any talent. Backgrounds by Britney. As well sung as any talent. 1) Closest to Madonna: Jazzy, sexy, voice goes to full range from tough to high. 5/5 2) Crazy: Nice beat music; Excellent voice esp when she says Baby. Strong voice. As well as woodsy and beautiful as a flute. full range of voice used. 4.8/5 3) Sometimes: Love song; soft as any of songs of 70s; Good beat; Voice has good beat as well as beauty of a soft voice (closest to Jewel crossed with Madonna: definitely Britney). She never goes over the pitch of the way music should be: a testament to how skilled she is and the fact that she's had music lessons and many more years of experience (she started since she was 3 and stopped adults in their tracks since age 3 to 4). 4.9/5 4) Soda Pop: my favorite. Singing as skillfully as Whitney or Mariah Carey without being them. It's Britney's style and it covers the full range of Lows, it's woodsy, and her voice is as skillful as any instrument could play those same ranges. The show piece of the CD in my opinion. This is not typical Britney which normally tends to Madonna/Jewel. She sounds more like Carey or Whitney here. 5/5 5) Born To Make You Happy: her best work to date in my opinion. Anyone who thinks she lacks the voice of a Christina Aguilera or Jessica Simpson has not heard this song. Britney has a strong clear beautiful voice. The voice ranges from flute to something a lot stronger. I could not think of an artist out there who could sing quite like this. Her voice has as much range as Mariah Carey's Vision of Love. 5/5 6) Broken Heart: Love the way she does those Oohs: as good as Mariah does it. Closest to Jewel. Soft voice, woodsy, soft music, full range of woodsy lows to highs as high as Jewel. 4.9/5. 7) I Will Be There: modern music, closest to Madonna. Out of all the songs in this CD I think the pitch of voice here is a shade higher than I would prefer but the intent was to acheive a certain pitch compatible with the musical instruments used. 4/5 8) Duet: One of the best duets I've heard. I normally don't like duets but I really like this one. Britney/Phillip never try to overshadow each other and sing in perfect harmony. So perfect they definitely sound like a couple singing to each other and love each other. Both are highly skilled and go through the full range of voice and pitch. Sung as good as any of the talent out there. Excellent work. 5/5 9) Thinkin About You: another jazzy one along the lines of Soda Pop. She does it as well as if a known talented singer would have done this song e.g. Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston. Strong voice, tough, woodsy, and soft and pretty too. Full range of voice. 5/5 10) E-Mail My Heart: lows of Mariah Carey, softness of Jewel/Madonna. No one sings like this. Her voice never goes too high or too low. The pitches are perfect. The things she does with her voice shows high skill and a uniqueness that is sure to be copied because she's got great style and skill. 5/5 11) The Beat Goes On: beautiful voice slightly overshadowed by the music instruments used her. I think this is more a production problem. I have this to say to the producers: Britney Spears has such a talented voice please don't let the background music overshadow it. A 5/5 for Britney but I'd have to give it a 4.8/5 overall because the background music used here is played louder than her voice.

Overall one of the excellent music CDs out there. All the songs are good to mostly excellent sung by a highly skilled singer. Her age is surprisely young but this should not be discounted as anything less. She sings as well as any of the great singers out there and deserved all the nominations and awards she's won. This CD deserves it's diamond status.

Free Music Review: Britney Spears: ...Baby One More Time (1999)
Hit: 5 Stars

We all know that Britney was another one of Disney's mouseketeers. During that time, the little Britney was best friends with a little Christina Aguilera (a fellow mouseketeer). Little did we know that Britney would mutate into a sexy 18 year-old, who would bring us this outstanding debut album. She may not have a voice like Christina Aguilera or Celine Dion or Whitney Houston or Barbra Streisand, but her voice is great enough to get her a record deal. So, in 1999, Britney released her first album entitled, ...BABY ONE MORE TIME.

...BABY ONE MORE TIME
The first single from the album. Britney knew that this was going to be the hit that made what she is today: A sexy superstar. The song talks about how she broke up with her boyfriend and then regretting that she did. She is asking him to give her another chance. That's what she means by "Hit me, baby, one more time". All you idiots who thought this song is about sexual abuse are wrong.

(YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY
The album's third single. Before releasing this as a single, Britney took it back into the studios and remixing it, calling it (YOU DRIVE ME) CRAZY (The Stop! Remix) The song was used as theme to the hit teen motion picture DRIVE ME CRAZY, starring Adrianne Gernier and Britney's close friend, Melissa Joan Heart. This is the song that caused Britney to make her first appearance on MTV's MAKING THE VIDEO.

SOMETIMES
The second single from the album. A classic up-tempo ballad about how Britney is real into this guy she sees, but it is too afraid to tell him. The video features Britney on Malibu Beach and a Malibu Beach house. While she was rehearsing the choreography that was used in the video, Britney had a bad knee injury and had to post-pone the schedule of shooting the video.

SODA POP
Not Britney's style. The song was later used as the theme to POKEMON THE MOVIE.

BORN TO MAKE YOU HAPPY
The fifth and final single from the album, although it is not a U.S. single. This song is sort of like ...BABY ONE MORE TIME, but this one is a ballad. She's telling the guy that she's thinking about him and wants to know what they both did wrong.

FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY BROKEN HEART
The fourth single from the album. In this one, she tells her ex-boyfriend was her true love and how he just brought their relationship to a sudden halt. It's a beautiful song that shouldn't not be skipped.

I WILL BE THERE
I never really liked this one.

I WILL STILL LOVE YOU (featuring Don Phillipp)
The song is not that bad, but Don Phillipp's voice is terrible. Besides, he never really did anything after this.

THINKIN' ABOUT YOU
Okay.

E-MAIL MY HEART
First of all, this one is a ballad. You all know that I'm softie when it comes to ballads. Second of all, it's a ballad that features a piano. This one is no different from any other ballad. She says she's sorry for what she's done and she wants her boyfriend back.

THE BEAT GOES ON
This one was originally made popular by the infamous Sonny & Cher. Sonny & Cher's version is a pure classic and we all know that. But Britney had the courage to remake it and she did a very good job with covering it.

This is album is very fresh, but still incredible. Everytime I listen to it, it takes me back to my eighth grade year. It's a great album and I encourage all Britney fans (the ones who don't have this album) to get it.

Free Music Review: 5 Stars!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This is one of the great CDs that Britney has ever recorded!

Baby One More Time - Has a nice pop/sexy beat to it, which makes the song irresistable to listen to. No matter in what mood you are, you can never say no to this song!

Crazy - It also has one of the sexy beats! A typical Britney style, which is great!

Sometimes - Is a love song, about a girl (Britney) that is in love with this guy, but they don't really trust eachother! Great love song. It's better than "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart"!!!

Soda Pop - Is a very quick song. Not one of my favorites! It would rate 1.

Born to Make you Happy - a Semi/slow song which has great vocals! Also if you have seen the video, you might know how great this song is, it would receive 5.

From The Bottom of My Broken Heart - Is overly a good song, about a girl (Britney again), who never knew what love is until she met this guy, her first and true love. Then he tells her they have to break up. And she cries over him, and tells him how much he helped her to understand what love is. It's a very emotional song, not one of my favorites.

I Will Be There - Is sort of like a teen song. A real typical Disney song.

I Will Still Love You - An amazing love song. Britney duets with Don Philip, with great vocals that fit together in this heart-warming love song. Receives 4 stars, only.

Thinkin' About You - Not a very good song. 3 Stars.

E-Mail My Heart - This is the best song on the album! She explains that she hurt his feelings, and she tries to apologize to him with phone calls, and wants to email her heart to him. The greatest song with nice harmonies and great vocals and backup singing.

The Beat Goes On - I truly don't like this song, because she mainly repeats "The Beat Goes On, The Beat Goes On, The Beat Goes On".

I would still rate this CD 5 stars! I first played the CD on the computer, and suddenly there was a popup showing, where you can watch her interview about "Baby, One more Time" songs. And how she wanted to become a singer, and also great photos of her as a toddler, young child, and rising star! And also the video of "Baby, One More Time" with links to her official site! I would recommend this CD for Britney Spears fans that are just starting out. I don't have the other two CDs, but the next would probably be "BRITNEY", it has amazing songs, too!

I got most of her songs from a downloadable software called "Direct Connect". the URL is www.neo-modus.com . You have to download the software, first. Also, you must have files on your computer which you can share with other DC users, or you can't access a hub to download. Some require a minimum.

Best Wishes,
Julianna
