Free Music Notes for Blackout

Free Music Review: Impressive
Hit: 5 Stars

I was never a Britney fan. Years ago, I purchased her debut CD out of hype, and I only liked one or two songs on the disk. As such, I assumed that most of her CDs must have some catchy, pop tunes and a lot of "hit the forward button" songs.

However, I listened to her entire Blackout CD on AOL and I was thoroughly impressed. All of the songs are listenable and I didn't find myself pressing that dreaded fast foward button.

This CD is for those who like dance music genre. Britney gets a lot of criticism for not singing like an American Idol or Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, etc... but her voice is really good with all these songs. In fact, it's an appropriate genre for her and I can't envision a soulful diva sing any of these songs. Her mellow voice goes with the bass beats. I can't explain how it works but it does.

I guess these songs are good for a performer/entertainer like Britney. I'd say if she danced like she did a few years ago coupled with these tracks, she could make a decent comeback performance.

So how would I rate this CD? I give it 4.5 with track 5 (Heaven on Earth) being my favorite out of the bunch because it sounds like a throwback to the 80s, but in a refreshing way. I have to knock a half point because the beats almost goes towards monotony but fortunately, it's still ear-friendly.

Hey, I actually bought the CD in the end, despite the bad press and all the taboo with Britney. That must mean something.

Free Music Review: Best Pop CD of the year
Hit: 5 Stars

Britney's best CD and the first one you can listen to from start to finish. There are no duds. Some are better than others...and there are a lot of great one's here. Sure her voice is vocodered but this is state of the art dance music and it works. She's even edgy - something that she was not able to pull of with her last CD "In the Zone"...remember Outrageous "her shopping sprees - Outrageous!" The lyrics aren't that stupid this time around. And "Gimme More" is just the start...it's gets better. "Piece of Me" - fun tabloid bashing with clever lyrics, "Break the Ice", "Heaven on Earth" - hot dance songs. Then "Get Naked (I Got a Plan) - this could be a club smash. Freakshow - quirky beats, "Hot as Ice" kind of cheesy - sort of eighties sound - but fun and could be her next "Toxic" hit. "Ooh Ooh Baby" samples Gary Glitter to make a dance anthem. The songs are well produced and there's a lot going on in them - some songs have two hooks going on at once, strange background moaning in "Piece of Me". This is a fun dance party album so it never gets deep (except for the last song "Why Shoud I Be Sad") - the rest of time it's all about sex, excess and fun. She plays up her sex kitten image all the way through. The music's production is like a cross between dramatic Eurodisco and Dr. Dre. It's the best pop CD to come out in a long time - and as good as the beats are, you can sing to them too. Maybe during all that club hopping she's been taking notes.

Free Music Review: Best album of 2007 (in my opinion)
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been a huge fan of thy Britney since I was in the fourth grade, and have never given up hope on her. Her music is cute and enjoyable, and her movie and TV appearances are always entertaining. With that being said, I not only give Blackout a 5 star review because I'm simply a fan, but because it seriously deserves it!

I think all of the tracks on the album are truly brilliant! When 'Gimme More' first leaked, and when the first words I heard were "It's Britney, b*tch.), I was like "=O!" Lol, I was so shocked at her new sound, and then the chorus came which was ridiculously catchy I could not stop singing (and attempting to dance) along! Then after taking a listen to the rest of the songs on her album, I knew I was not going to be disappointed. My favorites are ...

Gimme More: 9/10. Classic dance track, sexy lyrics, and a great choice for a lead single.
Piece Of Me: 10/10. I'm glad she did this song. It just had to be done.
Break The Ice: 12/10. This song is simply amazing! Great dance track with a technoish vibe! One of my favorites off of the album.
Radar: 11/10. LOVE IT! Very electropop, and it's quite addictive!

If you have an open mind about music, even if you didn't like any of her previous stuff, I'm sure you will enjoy this album. Overall, it's just a fun album with awesome songs that you can either dance or bop your head to! Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Free Music Review: Never thought I'd ever say this, but...
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is great! I never was the type of girl that liked Britney Spears. Even when she was all the rave with "...One More Time" and the others...I still didn't like her. She just wasn't my cup o' tea. But this WHOLE ALBUM is awesome. So danceable! And I think people were setting out to hating this album before she even made it. No one likes how she lives her life. But that does not matter on this album. My goodness, it's amazing. I totally didn't expect it when I got it, but I'm glad I have it. This WILL BE BUMPED in the car!

The beats are so nice, you can't help but to like it. People that are giving bad reviews are judging her by how she chooses to live her life...more so, they are judging her by how she chooses to play the cards that were dealt to her. I wish everyone would stop acting so friggin perfect...as if we don't all make mistakes, have regrets or wish we had it to do all over again! Just because celebrities have a lot of money and are on magazines doesn't make them some kind of super-human race. They still hurt and bleed like the rest of us. I think they hurt even more than us because they think their money can solve every problem when we all know that's not true.

At the end of the day, this album is probably the best she's put out as far as EVERY SONG on it being pretty damn good. It's really hard for any artist to do that, and I think Ms. Spears has accomplished that with Blackout.

Free Music Review: Best Album of 2007, Hands Down!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

With "Blackout", Britney Spears has delivered the strongest and most consistent pop album since the days of Michael Jackson's Thriller, Kylie Minogue's Fever and Janet's Rythm Nation! With not a bad track to be found, Blackout rolls on at warp speed, full of pumping, electonically charged dance beats, catchy hooks and lots of heavy breathing and panting (ofcourse).

With no filler whatsoever, this is by far the best album Britney Spears has ever released, and by no means is "Gimme More" even close to being the best track on this CD!

Standout tracks and hopeful future singles include the catchy "Ooh, Ooh Baby" that sounds like Madonna's La Isla Bonita in a techno-club and "Toy Soldier" (best Britney song ever and guaranteed #1 hit single). Toy Soldier is a catchy, high-energy, beat-intensive party in itself, and sets a high bar on this record. Other instant classics include "Break the Ice" - a dance floor thumper, and "Piece of Me" - innovative, futuristic and very groundbreaking. Other tracks like "Perfect Lover", "Freakshow" and "Radar" provide back to back dance-pop candy, and offer a sound more mature, more dance-floor ready and more memorable than any other pop offerings out there today.

Whoever thought Britney didn't have it in her anymore, has been proven way wrong, and this record will play at parties, clubs, homes, gyms and cars, for a very long time.
