Free Music Notes for CircusFree Music Review: Another reminder of why I'm a fan. Hit: 5 Stars
Britney Spears is a fantastic Pop artist, and this is certainly demonstrated in "Circus." Britney continues to release solid albums that cause an excitement among her fans. I am a fan of many artists, but I rarely see the extremes I see within the Britney circle. She is a rare addition to the music/entertainment world, indeed.
"Circus" contains pulse pounding beats that she is known for, as well as themes of newfound strength. Her life is poured into some of the lyrics, which is, inevitably, a "Circus." Probably the most personal songs/songs that speak of her life on her album are: "Circus," "Out from Under," "Kill the Lights," "Unusual You," and the very sweet "My Baby." All speak of how her life is a whirlwind of energy and exposure, the unexpected moments, how hard it can be to move on, and how much she loves her sons.
The rest are the more fun songs that you can't help but jam to. ("Circus" and "Kill the Lights" are dance worthy, too.) They are perfect for blasting in your car or when no one else is around. I love Britney's ability to make you feel like a kid again. You feel silly at first, but eventually don't care because it's just so damn fun. Ha.
What I think of each song (Rating: 1 the worst, 10 the best):
**Womanizer - 9. Basically, Toxic Pt. 2. A fun song of a man that womanizes, and she will not take it. Britney doing what she does best.
**Circus - 10. Such a well made song. Exciting, fun, and very well tells of the type of person she is/of her life.
**Out from Under - 10. A very haunting ballad that really sends chills. It's about how difficult it is to move on and move out from whatever is causing the pain. I listen to it often.
**Kill the Lights - 9. An obvious response to the media - Kill the damn lights! She's Britney and will do whatever she wants and knows that she's not perfect. It's her life.
**Shattered Glass - 8. It's about being cheated on, making her relationship with this guy now like shattered glass; she won't take him back. I say, get it girl. A very fun and catchy dance song. A little too short for my taste, though.
**If U Seek Amy - 10. Ah, this song is probably my guiltiest pleasure. It's probably the most fun, mainly in what the title stands for. If you don't know yet, say it to yourself 3 times fast and you just may get what she means. It's pretty awesome. I love it.
**Unusual You - 9. This song is saying how surprised she is that someone could genuinely like her, and not wanting to hurt her. It's sad if you think of the walls she has built, but it's also sweet in that there is now a guy willing to knock those walls down. A very nice, slower song.
**Blur - 7.5. This song sounds like a song she could have made a long time ago. I actually like that. A very chill beat.
**Mmm Papi - 7. Okay, either you love it or you hate it. It's definitely "different." The beat is catchy, though. I have to say because of that the song has grown on me with each listen. At first I wasn't sure, but now I think it has gotten better. I also think it's best for blaring in the car or for the dance floor.
**Mannequin - 7.5. Also a song that has grown on me. It's not as unique as "Mmm Papi," but I wasn't so sure if I liked it at first. It is certainly upbeat and fun, though. There is also a strength in her stating that she doesn't care and that you can't change her; she's like a mannequin.
**Lace and Leather - 8. Such a cute and fun song. Probably the most like candy on the album. Very Britney.
**My Baby - 9. For what I've seen, this song is considered "boring" or "too slow" to be on here. But I truly liked it. The song is about her love for her boys. It's a very sweet song. I admit that it does seem out of place, especially following "Lace and Leather," but her music reflects her life. Since her boys are the most important to her, a song about them is most appropriate.
**Radar - 9. I liked this song on "Blackout." A catchy song. But the fact that it was put on this album due to legal disputes is purely annoying. It just doesn't belong. Why not make it a single like promised to avoid this?
**Rock Me In - 8.5. A very pulse pounding song that marries a rock edge with pop.
**Phonography - 8.5. Also a song that makes your heart beat faster. A lot of more electronic beats within this one.
Overall, this is not only a great Britney album, but a great pop album. One of her best. You see significant growth from her. As much as I loved "Blackout," and still do, I like that she didn't go back down that path. I'm glad she went for a different sound. This entire album is fabulous and one that fans will LOVE.

Free Music Review: Great upbeat Britney album! Hit: 5 Stars
I was a big fan of Blackout, which unfortunately didn't do that well since people were more concerned with Britney in the tabloids (and her lack of promotion). This is different from that album, but still what you expect from Britney: fun, upbeat, danceable music, sometimes pushing the envelope. But there are definitely some different sounds here. Here's a breakdown:
1. Womanizer - I'm sure you've heard this song. Super catchy, upbeat. Her voice in this song reminds me of her voice in 'Baby One More Time.' Good song, but definitely not the best on the cd.
2. Circus - Love this song! Another probably everyone has heard by now. I just love the lyrics. They're so fun. I also love that she sounds so confident in this song (we waited a long time for Britney to come back).
3. Out From Under - A really awesome ballad. Really good lyrics. It always makes me think of her relationship with Justin.
4. Kill the Lights - I love this song. Very upbeat. I love how she sings this song. Some funny lyrics: "If you're feelin' froggy leave/I ain't even losin' sleep" (btw, love how her voice sounds here). I also love this part: "Mr. photographer/I think I'm ready for my close up/Tonight/Make sure you catch me from my good side/Pick one"
5. Shattered Glass - A good club song (as a matter of fact, I've heard it in a club). Very catchy. About a break-up caused by the guy cheating.
6. If You Seek Amy - I have no clue what this song is actually about, but I love it anyway. It's super fun to sing along to. There is controversy over what it sounds like she is saying here... and maybe that is the whole point of the song, but it's fun anyway.
7. Unusual You - Starts out kind of slow, then picks up. A nice change in the middle to break up all the club songs. Good lyrics too.
8. Blur - A slower one (I wouldn't call it a ballad though). This is the song everyone wanted to hear on Blackout. It almost sounds like something that would fit on the 'In the Zone' album (just by the sound of it). Really good.
9. Mmm Papi - This has a very retro fun beat. The beat hit me at first, and I liked it from the start. The rest of the song grew on me after listening to it 2-3 times.
10. Mannequin - I love how her voice sounds here. The only bad part is it's hard to tell what she's saying in parts of it (and I really want to sing along to the whole song). I love the beat of this though. One of my favorites nonetheless.
11. Lace and Leather - This song has kind of an 80s feel to it. It's very fun--lyrics and beat. Was my favorite from the start.
12. My Baby - A ballad about her boys. It's very sweet. My only complaint is that it follows a very upbeat song, and this one is very slow. It might have been better after say, 'Out From Under' or 'Unusual You' just cuz 'Lace and Leather' gets me in a very upbeat, dancing mood. Still a very good song.
13. Radar - A bonus track on the deluxe edition of the cd. This song is also on her 'Blackout' album, and was my favorite on that cd. Not sure why it's on here as well. I heard a rumor they still wanted to release it as a single, and that's why. We will see. Great song though. Different than anything you hear on the radio and I don't think anyone else could pull this song off.
14. Rock Me In - Very fun beat. Fun vocals. Another bonus track, and I think it's worth getting the deluxe version for.
15. Phonography - Kind of a weird song. Didn't initially like it, but it did grow on me. It's not my favorite on here, but it's still catchy.
Free Music Review: Once Again, You Worked Your Sh.. On This Album Britney! Hit: 5 Stars
I'm sorry, but it's like her material just gets better and better with each record. She's the only artist out right now that I can honestly say that about. I used to think 'In The Zone' was her peak as she played with Pop and hints of R&B; and then 'Blackout' came out last year (no promotion and very underrated) and I was like WHOA. Now we have 'Circus.'
Britney is known for making us dance and where all her dance tracks are concerned, she delivers on each. 'Womanizer' starts things off, and is just a classic Britney track altogether: busy, heavy on the beats and effects, and catchy lyrics. 'Circus,' the title track, threw me for a loop because I thought it may address the public chaos going on in her life as of late, but it's a very playful and sensual track. 'Kill the Lights' provides what I thought Circus was given the title and all. Very angry and sassy, Britney again takes on the paps and critics. 'Shattered Glass' is somewhat trance and a lot of skipping on the track which I love. 'If U Seek Amy' is a hot track, I can totally picture a video for this. 'Mmm Papi' is another fun track in which Britney doesn't take herself serious in the lyrics and vocal arrangement. 'Mannequin' is just fire, I've loved this song since it leaked and the lyrics are so clever, she is just really cocky on this one and I love it. 'Lace and Leather' has a beat of 80s pop/funk feel to it. It totally works. 'Rock Me In' has a bit of an edge to it, Rock almost. 'Phonography' delivers more playful lyrics and very sensual and sexy.
The slower cuts and ballads: Britney, you outdid yourself - my hat goes off to you! Britney doesn't have the strongest voice out there, this we know, but she works it out with what she has. 'Out From Under' is light and airy, perfect for her. 'Unusual You' is in the same vein, and very European at that. 'Blur' puts me in the mind of some old Sneaker Pimps track; it's very eerie but hypnotizing all in the same. 'My Baby' is such a pleasant surprise, it really shocked me. Amazing arrangement and fits her voice perfectly. She hits this very strong note at the end that is so beautiful.
I only have one teeny little complaint: Britney is now 27 y/o. Why in the world do they continue to censor some of her lyrics? I can't recall certain songs because the album is still new to me, but there were a couple of tracks I heard her say certain expletives for example that are creatively altered so that they fit the crazy creative skipping and choppiness of some of the uptempo tracks. I feel it's unnecessary. She's a grown woman now, and I'm sure her fan base has grown with her and is older at least from what I've been seeing in particular at the GMA performance on her birthday/album release. If she has to, let her. It's not hurting the overall feel or point of the track in my opinion.
This is the perfect Pop album to close the year and Britney once again proves why she ran the game before her hiatus, and while she will reclaim her spot victoriously in 2009. Beyonce should be forewarned that she is about to take a backseat to the major advantage she has had during Britney's absence the past 4-5 years. Every track is single-worthy. The marketing for the record is huge (tour announcement and pre-sale tickets topping nearly 100,000 in one day - crazy!), but minimal all the same.
Kudos once again on a job well done!
Free Music Review: Wlcome Back Britney!!!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I love this album! It's better than "Blackout" in my opinion.
1. Womanizer - (10/10) First single from the album. I love it! It's so catchy and fun. It's sounds like a cross between "Radar" and "Ooh Ooh Baby."
2. Circus - (10/10) Second single from the album. It's a great track with an amazing middle 8. The music video will definately be awesome too.
3. Out From Under - (10/10) This song is a cover of a song off The Bratz movie soundtrack. Who knew a song from the Bratz movie soundtrack could turn into a fantastic Britney track?
4. Kill The Lights - (10/10) Produced by Danja, same guy who produced "Gimme More," "Break The Ice," etc. The song has a fresh new sound different from "Blackout," and I'm really liking this song.
5. Shattered Glass - (8/10) Not my favorite song on the album, but it's still great. Sounds kinda sorta similar to Britney's 2001 song, "Cinderella."
6. If U Seek Amy - (10/10) Insanely catchy. First Max Martin song Britney's done since 2001's "Britney." It's a fun play on words with a rememberable chorus.
7. Unusual You - (10/10) I love the mellow sound of this song. It's production reminds me of songs from "In The Zone," which is a very good thing.
8. Blur - (10/10) Similar in style to "Unusual You," I love the lyrics and overall sound of the song.
9. Mmm Papi - (7/10) I like the overall sound of the song. But the "Mmm papi, love you, mmm papi love you" sounds really cheesy and out of place in the song.
10. Mannequin - (10/10) Great danceable song with good lyrics too, pretty catchy also.
11. Lace And Leather - (8/10) I love the old-school sound of this song, however it's not one of favorites on the album, but I still enjoy listening to it very much.
12. My Baby - (7/10) Not my favorite. I know Britney wrote the lyrics and it's very personal, but it's not as good as "Everytime" which was produced by the same guy that produced "My Baby." Britney said that the song was written very fast, so maybe that's the reason it's not up to par with some of her other ballads.
13. Radar - (10/10) OK, I love this song and all, but it was already on "Blackout." I wish Jive records gave us a brand new bonus track instead.
14. Rock Me In - (10/10) I love this song, and the electric guitar that plays in it, very catchy. One of my favorites.
15. Phonography - (10/10) Great song that is a euphanism for phone sex. Very catchy, and I love the production work on this song.
I think "In The Zone" will always be my favorite Britney album, but I really love "Circus" a lot. My favorite tracks on it are: "Womanizer," "Circus," "Kill The Lights," "If U Seek Amy," "Unsual You," and "Rock Me In."
Free Music Review: Watch Out! Britney's Circus is in town ^_^ Hit: 5 Stars
Where to start, I don't know why people just write stupid reviews without even listening to the album, GET A LIFE! Anyway,"Circus" really differs from "Blackout". Blackout was really about having fun, Great upbeat songs that were made for the dancefloor, Circus on the other hand is a mix between "In the Zone" and "Blackout". You have the great upbeat songs (Womanizer, Circus, Kill the Lights etc.) and you also have the softer more meaningful songs (Out From Under, Unusual You, Shattered Glass etc.) The album starts off great, but somewhere after "Unusual You" it kinda goes downhill, honestly "Mmm Papi" and "Blur" should've been replaced with "Phonography" and "Rock Me In".
1. 10/10 Womanizer - The lead single, great electronic dance track. Very catchy and infectious chorus.
2. 10/10 Circus - Second single and title track. Just a great song overall plain and simple.
3. 10/10 Out From Under - Beautiful well put together ballad, very sincere vocals and lyrics. Would make a great third single.
4. 10/10 Kill The Lights - The new version of "Piece of Me" Britney taking on the Paparazzi, Great infectious lyrics, a total club hit!
5. 10/10 Shattered Glass - Just a great girl anthem, has that 80's feel to it, Sounds like Cinderella from "Britney". Very cool.
6. 10/10 If U Seek Amy - The Best song on the album! It's just Great! Total smash has an infectious beat, great vocals, and funny obscene lyrics. The total package baby.
7. 10/10 Unusual You - The most beautiful ballad in Britney's career (It takes alot for a song to make me cry). The synthesizer and Britney's sincere vocals are just beautiful.
8. 6/10 Blur - Sounds like Early Morning from "In the Zone". It's like a whatever song.
9. 1/10 Mmm Papi - Egh, least favorite song. Have not even listened to it in full.
10. 8/10 Mannequin - Nice up-beat song
11. 10/10 Lace and Leather - Sounds like Janet Jackson's "Feedback". A great fun, sexy, get up and Dance song.
12. 7/10 My Baby - A song Britney wrote for her son's. It's an ok song, just not my cup of tea.
13. 10/10 Radar - I don't get why they put this song on here. It should've been released as "Blackout's" fourth single but hey! It's a Great song.
14. 10/10 Rock Me In - Very fun, upbeat song.
15. 10/10 Phonography - Love! Love! Love this song. Very Sexy and Provocative. Would've made a great single/video ^_^
16. 10/10 Trouble - Great electric futuristic dance song. it's a shame it was only available if you pre-ordered "Circus" would've made a great addition.
