Free Music Review: Standing The TEST OF TIME - Even Here in Australia
Hit: 5 Stars

From the opening of THUNDER ROAD to The Closing of JERSEY GIRL, this is all class....I actually bought the Cassette Version in my youth about 15 years ago and wore them out over the next 10 years......I was delighted to get my hands on the CD pack ...And I am in heaven again..Bruce, Its been 7 years...since I've experienced the live 1975-85 set...In that time I have got married and had 2 children.....AND GUESS what ....Chills are still experienced up and down the of the best parts of this work is the involvement of the LIVE CROWD.........Especially in "Growin Up' and also in 'Jersey Girl" and "Raise your Hand".... added to this the RAW energy of "BADLANDS" ........I tell you what IF YOU DONT LIKE THIS THEN.....You had better find youself a Time Capsule and go BACK TO YOUR YOUTH AND LIVE IT OVER AGAIN RIGHT.... I cannot wait until by boy is couple of years older because here's what is going to The 3 CD's in the Car ...The Top Down....The volume up.. Dad and Son in the Car..off down the Highway..... But no "Racing in the Street" because I have now grown up...(Just a Down the shore everything is STILL alright.... Mark- Gold Coast - Australia

Free Music Review: The Boss
Hit: 5 Stars

Nowhere is the human spirit better exemplified than in the music of Bruce Springsteen, and rarely is his music better experienced than on these live tracks (the only exception being to see him live and in person). Bruce takes all the abstract ideals that make America great--striving, hope, freedom--and gives them voice in unforgettable songs. Others may have done the same, but nobody other than U2 has tempered that transcendental urge with enough complexity and reality to prevent their anthems from seeming cartoonish after a while.
The highlight is Disc 3, Side A, where Bruce pulls off the 1-2-3-4-5 punch of "Badlands," "Because the Night," "Candy's Room," "Darkness on the Edge of Town," and "Racing in the Street." It's a 5,000-kg dose of musical courage that might just give you the [guts] to go climb a mountain, kiss a beautiful stranger, and quit your dead-end job, all in one fell swoop. Other high points include "Growin' Up," "Saint in the City," "The River," "I'm on Fire," and, of course, "Born to Run."
These songs are an inspiration. Bruce aimed for the sky--artistically, professionally, and personally--and he hit it.

Free Music Review: The reason he is called the "Boss"
Hit: 5 Stars

This was a long awaited box set. It comes as close to a Bruce Springsteen Concert as possible without buying a ticket. The "Boss" takes you down the thundering road of his musical history of this time frame. If you have never seen the "Boss" live then you don't know what your missing. From the hard core Bruce Springsteen listener to the newly discovered fan this set is a MUST HAVE.The pure sound and feeling I get from this historical recording is unsurpassed. Bruce Springsteen's performance from Thunder Road to Jersey Girl will evoke feelings of joy, sadness and pure outright feeling of having you heart dancing in the aisle. Springsteen's cover of "War" and "This Land is Your Land" are the best I have ever heard. Bruce includes songs such as "Beacuse the Night" and others that have never been included in a studio recording before makes this more of a treat. Owning this set is not an option in the life of a Bruce Springsteen Fan's music collection. This is the live set to rival all others. If you don't own all of the Boss' recordings this will make you want more and more!

Free Music Review: AWESOME ROCK POWER
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an absolutely brilliant live set that captures all of the raw power and the beauty of Springsteen at his best. The performances are awesome and the atmosphere is electric. What makes the album special is hearing songs like Because The Night (a hit for Patti Smith) performed by Bruce himself and songs like Nebraska in full rock mode. The rock instrumentation lends Nebraska new depth and poignancy although I love the acoustic version too. Another favourite is Fire, tender, anguished and passionate with amazing vocals. Born To Run is a real tour de force, gaining lots of energy by the live ambience and the enthusiastic applause. Jersey Girl, made famous by Tom Waits, provides another highlight in its wistful delivery with the achingly beautiful organ and Bruce's voice taking a tender turn. This song is pure poetry with its gripping images and wailing sax. Promised Land and Born In The USA also deserve special mention and of course Bruce's wonderful version of Woody Guthrie's This Land Is Your Land, but there are no bad moments and the whole Live album is one captivating listening experience.

Free Music Review: Easily the best live album ever
Hit: 5 Stars

This 3cd set from bruce is the hallmark of his career and although it could have included a few more important songs, this compilation is outstanding. I know alot of Clapton, Alman Brothers, Rolling Stones, Who, Seger, etc. fans will claim there are better live albums out there but Springsteen is in a class by himself when it comes to live performances and this set captures all of his greatness over a 10 year period. The highlights of this set include Born In The U.S.A. (blows the album version away), The River (a truly memorable performance), Backstreets, Seeds, Reason To Believe (Bruce's voice has never been better), Racing In The Street (epic version), No Surrender (a better, slowed down version from the album), and Jersey Girl. The whole set is tremendous and anyone who apreciates great live performances should have this in their collection whether they like Springsteen or not- there will never be another Springsteen.
Note: It's important to get the remastered version of this set as the quality of the original printing was not that good.
