Free Music Notes for Live: 1975-85 (3CD)Free Music Review: Too much of a good thing... Hit: 5 Stars
...IS WONDERFUL! O.K. so there is a ton of material here, but, how else could Columbia Records document a decades worth of live shows from such a legendary artist? This box set pretty much covers Springsteen's vast range (no easy feat)! Even though I absolutely love this box set I have two (minor) complaints that need to be pointed out. I would have loved to hear more of Springsteen's stories (ex. his rap about his family life during "Growing Up"). The other is that you have to SEE the man live in concert to get the full experience. The Boss has enough energy to power a small country! I have only seen him once, and it was incredible! If you even remotely like Springsteen this is a must!
Free Music Review: If you are a fan you need this! Hit: 5 Stars
There is nothing better in this whole wide world than to listen to Springsteen music! If you happen to be seeing him live in concert, all the much better! But this album has the power to be revered as a religious item! I love it more than any of my non-Springsteen cds, and just as much if not (dare I say it?) more than some of my Springsteen ones! It is nothing short of a BRILLIANT collection, with a bit of everything that a Springsteen fan would want! Stories, poignant remakes of songs (Thunder Road, No Surrender), total rockers, and songs that give you hometown pride and fill you with hope! Only one performer has managed to encompass all of those traits in his songs and awesome voice: the BOSS!
Free Music Review: Replacing an orgininal cassette version! Hit: 5 Stars
I got this box set in cassette form when I was in high school. Those cassettes have travelled with me everywhere I've gone for almost 15 years.Bruce's music hits a chord in your soul that no other musician can touch. Memories of growing up on the Jersey shore - Driving to the beach with your friends & a cooler of beer - Trying to sneak into the Stone Pony's bar when you're underage! All of these feelings are fondly remembered as the opening bars of Thunder Road are played. Now, as a grown up, Bruce's music reminds you that you were young, irresponsible & having fun not so long ago. Let's go get a beer down in Manasquan...I'll meet you at the Osprey! Freehold High School '88!
Free Music Review: Legendary Live Set Hit: 5 Stars
This is one album that proves just how utterly legendary Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's live performances have been. Though many people now know them from their reunion tours of the past few years, it is hard to top the sound and intensity they exhibited in this box set of live performances from the first ten, and certainly most productive year's of the band's existance showcase just why Bruce Springsteen was as beloved as he has been. Those who know Bruce only from his latest concerts should check this set out to hear how he REALLY rocks. While his newer live perofrmances are still fantastic, they do not totally compare to this phenominal collection of live performances.
Free Music Review: I wish I could of been there Hit: 5 Stars
Man this is the greatest live CD of all time! My favorite is on Disc 2 from Darkness to Seeds. The 3rd disc doesn't get listened to nearly as much as the first 2 and the stories in between are a pain when driving in the car. (I want to rock, not listen to some guy talk about not getting drafted, but I do listen to them at home.) If you are feeling sad and kinda blue and want to release "go over to your radio turn the mother up as loud as she'll go" and put on Darkness on the Edge of Town(track 7 Disc 2). I still get chills hearing him yell "tonight I'll be on that hill 'cause I can't stop" All the fun of the reunion concert w/out the steep prices!
