Free Music Notes for Live: 1975-85 (3CD)Free Music Review: I wish I could of been there Hit: 5 Stars
Man this is the greatest live CD of all time! My favorite is on Disc 2 from Darkness to Seeds. The 3rd disc doesn't get listened to nearly as much as the first 2 and the stories in between are a pain when driving in the car. (I want to rock, not listen to some guy talk about not getting drafted, but I do listen to them at home.) If you are feeling sad and kinda blue and want to release "go over to your radio turn the mother up as loud as she'll go" and put on Darkness on the Edge of Town(track 7 Disc 2). I still get chills hearing him yell "tonight I'll be on that hill 'cause I can't stop" All the fun of the reunion concert w/out the steep prices!
Free Music Review: Powerfully emotional. Hit: 5 Stars
I first bought the 5-record boxed set in '85, but only recently bought the CD set. The vinyl set put chills to my spine when I first bought it, but because of its length, it didn't get played much. Even now, it is powerfully emotional and repeatedly sends chills to my spine - like no other recording(s) in my collection! I really feel like Bruce is giving me a piece of himself, and the music is simply awesome. This set is on my "stuck on a desert island and I only have 10 CDs" list, and I'm not saying this because I'm a huge Springsteen fan - my only other Springsteen CD is "Born To Run". This is the music that Bruce will be forever remembered for.
Free Music Review: One of the best live sets ever...and it's too short!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a superb set - it shows the progression of Bruce and the band across ten wonderful years, and provides a brilliant memory for those who attended any show during this period. Who cares about omissions when there is so much good stuff on show here?? My only criticism, as I bought the set in Belfast, was the cost - which is also a problem with the CD release. Hopefully in the recent atmosphere of Bruce emptying the archives we could have another 5LP/3CD set like this, particularly if it includes the '78-'81 live version of Prove It All Night and the '93 version of Souls of the Departed. Awesome. Unbeatable.
Free Music Review: Still....The Boss. Hit: 5 Stars
This box set is why Bruce Springsteen's magic continues to weave intself accross the generations. I bought this set to replace my second set of worn out cassette tapes which have travelled all over the world with me. As opposed to much music today where the emphasis appears to either fall on the primordial 'beat' or on the 'words', these songs spread themselves squarely accross all methods of in depth communication. Play this in low light and you can almost feel the embrace as you are surrounded with the warm winds of desire, emotion and humanity. If I were to pick one all time favourite...this would be The ONE!
Free Music Review: AWESOME! Hit: 5 Stars
The 3 CDs in the box set are the only CDs I have been listening to lately. Springsteen is totally incredible. This box set takes the music lover from the beginning of Springsteen until his popular rise of "Born in the U.S.A." There is a little bit of everything from pure rock in "Born in the U.S.A" and slowing it down with the awesome "No Surrender" to the heartfelt rendition of "This Land is Your Land." If you are a Springsteen fan, this is a must have in your collection. After listening to this set, you too will know why Springsteen is truly The Boss.
