Free Music Notes for Live: 1975-85 (3CD)Free Music Review: Captures the Power and Passion of a Night with the Boss! Hit: 5 Stars
Springsteen is, bar none, THE great live performer of the rock era, and this collection goes along way to show why this is a stone cold fact. I saw some of the early shows at the Stone Pony and I am here to testify that this CD took me back to those early days and left me with tears in my eyes, remembering a man who left nothing backstage. He'd plug in his Fender, open up a vein and let it flow. If you want to feel the power, just listen to "Growing Up" -- when Bruce tells his parents that they're just gonna have settle for rock-n-roll, that's why live music is the only way to hear it.
Free Music Review: Great singer, great album Hit: 5 Stars
This is one of the best live recordings (if not the best) I have ever listened to. Maybe Springsteen is not by favourite rock singer, but this album is great, I makes you love his music and his ability to communicate with the audience. This collection includes his best songs up to 1985 (this means that it includes his best songs ever).I have listened to the more recent "Live In NYC" and I must recommend "Live 1975-1985" rather. One sign of how good this album is, is that, 16 years after can still be found in every shop, not just in the USA, but also in Europe.
Free Music Review: I have enjoyed this recording for about 15 years Hit: 5 Stars
I remember the moment I got the boxed set of vinyl records and put the side one of the first record on the turntable. I was a teenager and it was a magical moment on christmas day. I admired everything from the cover of the box to gig pictures on the booklet of the boxed set. But the music - that was unearthly - I guess there wasn't a day when I didn't listen to at least one song from these records. Time of the turntables has passed, but I am happy this CD set has turned up. Again I can enjoy those magical moments with deeply touching music and great performances.
Free Music Review: Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band Live/1975-85 Hit: 5 Stars
My wife & I had just seen them in concert, so I wanted to recapture that great feeling. While I had several of his studio CD's - which I love - this CD rekindled the experience of his Live performance. The energy and grit can never be truly recaptured, but this 3 disc CD comes close. I love it. Some of his lesser known songs (i.e. not the big hits played on mainstream radio) such as Seeds, and Rosalita, are best heard on Live albums or in person. This CD gives you a glimpse into why Springsteen and his band are among the best in arena performers.
Free Music Review: Larger than Life Hit: 5 Stars
I remember when this came out on vinyl. Yeah VINYL! At the time, not yet a Boss fan, I was struck by the sheer audacity to release a 5 album set of material. Sales were astronomical. What I didn't realize was that the set was equivalvent to the average length of a Sprinsteen show. I came to this realization while seeing bruce on his first solo tour for Lucky Town. In looking back, I know that this was a monumental statement as it set a trend for artists to release large amounts of material now known as the Box Set. Thank you Bruce.
