Free Music Review: THIS is rock opera!
Hit: 5 Stars

Like much great rock this classic album is melodramatic and over-the-top ("Jungleland", "Lost in the Flood") but also like all great rock, it's tight and concise (the title track, "She's The One" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out"). Archtypal mini-dramas about everyday people, propelled by tight playing from one of the '70s' hardest-working bands. 'Boss' mythos aside, Born To Run is still a great slice of high-impact rock'n'roll, positively exploding with power and emotion. It continues to stand the test of time, too; Listening to it recently it suddenly hit me Born To Run is now over 30 years old!...The box set is a true bargain at $25. Remastering of the main album is superb and the box also includes a generous-length DVD "Live at the Hammersmith Odeon'75" recorded in in front of a rapt British audience in the days - as Bruce says here - before McDonalds hit town. The other DVD is a fascinating look at the making of Born To Run. An excellent value especially considering the live DVD itself retails for $16-18...Remember to play it loud!

Free Music Review: Born To Run a Great Gift from Bruce!
Hit: 5 Stars

What a sensational gift from Bruce.
5 stars just ain't enough.
Maybe 10 stars with a few planets thrown in...
The remastered cd of Born to Run is one thing, the concert from Hammersmith Odeon in another.
This could be the greatest concert I have ever seen.

The talent and passion of Springsteen is other worldly.
At times he seems lost in prayer, like during Thunder Road (the definitive version is on this dvd).
Other times he is absolutely manic (Rosie, Quarter to Three).

Every song is a highlight.

Be prepared for a very emotional journey as 30 years flashes before your eyes.

Nobody makes me feel as old or as young as Bruce.
I have seen Bruce several times in every decade , this dvd captures the spirit and the passion like no other.

For the Bruce fan, no further explanation is needed.
For those who always wondered what all the hype was about, you'll get the idea with this show.
A wonderful gift from Bruce.

Free Music Review: unbelievable
Hit: 5 Stars

stunning. the concert dvd is simply stunning. the documentery dvd is a curious added bonus because it includes discarded version of wellknown songs such as BTR and Jungleland. anyway the real treat for me is the live version of "Lost In The Flood". this song is one of Springsteen's greatest epics. before "Jungleland", before "Backstreets", before "NYC Serenade", before "Incident" there was this song. i'm glad that the Boss has brought this song back into his sets on recent tours, it's vastly overlooked and underrated. great version of "Quarter to Three" on here also.

the remastered cd is not so impressive. i really can't hear a difference but then again i've only listened to it in my car. perhaps when i listen to it on my home sterio it will sound different.

overall this is the definative version of Born To Run. why would you even bother buying the normal cd version now that this is available? oh, go buy Devils & Dust too.

Free Music Review: Excellent Package
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an excellent anniversary package of one of the greatest rock albums of all time. Well done all the way around. I'm not one that cares which record company puts it out. If your worried about the copyright virus stuff don't play it in your computer. For the reviewer that is touting Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, and Ashlee Simpson(you've got to be kidding, right?!) as geniuses, lay off the crack. All of the people named (about the only one I'll give credit to is Madonna) are absolute crap. Hey buddy, musical genius usually implies someone who writes their own songs and can play a musical instrument. We've moved on, give me a break. I think his explanation can pretty much tell you what to do with his review. This is great collection, and a fine addition to any musical collection. Usher and Ashlee Simpson, give me a break. Popular music today sucks, has no soul, and is for the most ignorant of people.

Free Music Review: Worth every penny for the concert DVD alone
Hit: 5 Stars

Shortly after the release of Born to Run, and having become a devout Springsteen fan, I bought a ticket for his first-ever concert in the Twin Cities. Fate conspired to keep me from attending, and I sadly handed my ticket to my sister. The concert rendered her speechless. She tried her best to describe what it was that she had experienced, but ultimately said "you just had to be there." We've both been to subsequent concerts, and while he never fails to deliver, my sister has said they aren't the same as what she saw back in the mid 70's. How could they be? Different man, different songs, different times.

Today I watched the concert DVD, and I finally think I have an inkling of what she saw. For anyone who wants to experience the raw, nascent talent of that time, this is a must-see. I am so glad to have this glimpse of something I always regretted missing the first time around. Thanks, Bruce.
