Or so the liner notes warn us, and not without reason. For your edification, "la brujeria" essentially means witchiness/sorcery/magical practice with a decidedly black streak. Brujeria the death metal unit live up to the name with bone-crunching music that does invoke the monsters under the bed--or hey, even the howling of Hades itself. My favorites on this one are "Pititis, Te Invoco" (Pititis (a rather succulent succubus from the sound of it), I Invoke You) and "Labratorios Cristalitos" (gnaw on a direct translation, we're talking about crystal meth here), but NO song from "Brujerizmo" isn't a GREAT song. On the language question, I think listeners who understand Spanish (more specifically, colloquial Mexican) will get more out of "Brujerizmo", because while the music never relents, there's also a lot going on in the lyrics. Brujeria fans might want to take note that the head featured on the cover is the same as from "Matandos Gueros". I heard on the latest rare and precious interview with the band that we can expect a world tour when Mexico brings home the World's Cup...don't hold your breath, just grab your mescal and blast the band behind the bandana.
