Free Music Review: A By The Numbers R&B Disc

From The Jacksons to B5, family orientated R&B groups are nothing new in R&B. With their debut disc, Brutha hopes to have the same longevity as The Jacksons; sadly the boys need a lot of work if they won't my respect. The CD opens up with the lead single I Can't Hear The Music featuring Fabolous. I didn't like the song when I heard it on the radio and after seeing a live performance where it's obvious they were lip synching I lost even more respect for the group. To their credit, the group does have some tight harmonies which is displayed on the slow jams Set It Off (written by Ne-Yo, do yourself and search the net for his version) and Like This. However those are the only two songs of note on this CD, and like most R&B in today's mainstream market, the CD focuses more on the Rhythm and less on the blues.
