Free Music Review: 3 CDS plus 1 DVD of Buddy Guy Hit: 5 Stars
You better be a big fan of Buddy Guy if you're going to splurge on this one! The set does present some of Buddy's early work but it is a little heavier slanted towards his more recent work. It's all very good and this set certainly makes a strong case for Guy being in the all time top tier of Chicago bluesmen. Because of the blues genre in which he plays, Guy still is an underrated talent that is still deserving of a wider audience. Here's hoping this set will widen that audience a little more.
Free Music Review: Excellent Place to Start Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great overview of Buddy Guy's career. It is worth the purchase just for the DVD footage. The performances and the documentary are just the ticket. The three audio discs lean to his more recent career releases, from "Damn Right I Got the Blues" and forward. However, there are treasures to be found before then, which are sampled on the first disc. Overall, an excellent place to start for the novice, and worth owning for the DVD for the long time fan.
Free Music Review: Can't Refuse this blues set Hit: 5 Stars
A great box set of of blues from the man who was before Jimi, before Stevie and before Eric. I should have been listening to Buddy long ago. Three solid discs of tunes and a snappy DVD with a great mix of interview and concert video. Includes a sizeable booklet of Buddy Guy history along with the CD tracks and players. I love this set and I have nothing negative to say about it. A must have!
Free Music Review: The Blues legend plays on. Hit: 5 Stars
Buddy Guy is 70 years old and still plays like he is 20. This Box set is well wirth buying if you dig the blues. Buddy is one hell of a ax man that lives and breaths the blues. This is for the old and the new fans. I listen to Buddy and am always captivated by his playing. Buddy is Eric Claptons favorite player. Jam on America.
