Free Music Notes for Skin DeepFree Music Review: Still Smokin' Hit: 5 Stars
I have ti disagree with the negative vibe the 1st reviewer put out. The "real" Buddy Guy" has always been about sharing his music, and the spotlight, he gives back. If you have seen him in recent years, his stage shows are all over the place, as if he is trying to show you a little bit of everything before you go home. Well a little bit of everything is here. From the good choice of Tom Hambridge as co writer, to the solid , clear production. The playing is Buddy, "intense" The guests are his friends, and or people he wants to showcase, much like what was done for him as the Blues got a re birth in the late 80's and early ninties. Buddy is Buddy, still smokin"

Free Music Review: One of Buddy's Best Hit: 5 Stars
The guest stars -- Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks, Robert Randolph, young Quinn Sullivan and Susan Tedeschi -- add a lot, but this is Buddy's CD, and he's at the top of his game. The songs are tight and substantive and the playing is great. Buddy is one of the last connections to the Muddy Waters era in Chicago and the original Chess Studios, and he wants to make sure that tradition gets passed on. As he sings here "Who's Gonna Fill Those Shoes." But there is nothing archaic or anthropological about what he does here. It's great blues played by, as Mick Jagger calls him in "Shine a Light," Buddy "Mother------" Guy.
Free Music Review: Your REALLY MISSING OUT IF YOU DON'T OWN THIS CD! BUDDY GUY IS A LEGEND! Hit: 5 Stars
I recently got the priviledge & AMAZING OPPORTUNITY to see Buddy Guy play live! They just don't make em like him anymore. And I sure wish they did! I 1000% ENJOYED every second of his concert & then I bought this CD & again throughly enjoyed every second of it. Give yourself the gift of owning it & then gift yourself the Gift of actually listening to each & everyword of each song. PRICELESS!! The title cut "Skin Deep" OOO if only our government would follow those simple words of that song & other governments too our world would be in a COMPLETE STATE OF PEACE! BUDDY GUY , WE LOVE YOU
Free Music Review: Buddy is the Best Hit: 5 Stars
This is a fabulous CD. Sorry for those that didn't want to see Buddy doing any duets -- but that is one of the great things about Buddy -- he loves jamming with his fellow blues friends. I love thd title track Skin Deep -- simple but meaningful and lyrics I wish everyone could live by. My second favorite is Smell the Funk. I was privileged to see Buddy just a few weeks ago at the Hampton Beach Casino in NH and I will be seeing him again in October for the Hendrix Experience (my 2nd time) tour. This man will rock my world no matter how old he gets.
Free Music Review: Buddy Really Cuts Loose Hit: 5 Stars
Buddy really cuts loose on this cd, this is a return to 90's releases prior to his later "rootsy" forays. Literally every song is an extended jam with incredible soloing by Buddy throughout. No filler here, I like every song and they don't all just sound the same, either. This release is definitely blues rock, so if you are a blues purist this one probably isn't for you. To sum up: there is some guitar playing here that is not to be missed.
