Free Music Review: Buffy scores!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was so excited when I heard that this disc was going to be released. Buffy is the best show on TV and its cast is by far the best ensemble. Joss Whedon is a genius and this episode proved that. People may comment on the lack of quality in some of the singers (ie Sarah Michelle) but it wasn't meant to be a perfect performance. Sweet comes to town and the whole town starts singing exposing all the secrets they have been hiding. He didn't come to town to turn them into Mariah Carey. I read that Sarah Michelle was going to use a voice double but when she relaized that someone else would be singing the most important lines of the season, she decided she had to do it. And thank God she did. This was the most pivotal episode of that season where it all came out. Emma Caulfield's Bunnies break is absolutely hysterical and her duet "I'll Never Tell" with Nicholas Brendon is like something from a classic musical. Amber Benson is a joy in her performance of "Under Your Spell" and James Marsters is just too cool in his "Rest In Peace" performance. The songs where the entire cast sings shows the ensemble tightness that I have referred to previously. Buffy fans will love it and musical and non-Buffy fans should give it a listen. Say it with me...Once More With Feeling!

Free Music Review: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Soundtrack is awesome!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a huge fan of the show. I can't believe that Joss Whedon has so much room in his brain by producing so many great shows. The musical idea was great and I have not seen the episdoe yet as I missed it. However, I bought the CD and I'm a hooked. By taking the voice ranges of the cast and creating some great music and lyrics that make me think!. The show makes me think but it also entertains, it's funny, and poignant and sometimes sad. But the music is a huge kick. I would love to ask the radio station to play James Marsters, belting out "Rest in Peace". Also, Sarah Michelle Gellar has a pleasant voice, and has proved she is a professional as her performance is outstanding. The cut "Walk through the Fire", my three kids, ages 5, 6 ,and 9, love the song and sing it in the car. We are a Buffy family and would recommend this CD. Emma Caufield, Nicholas Brendan do a splendid job. Though I don't think that singing is in the cards for Emma - but she performs well. Giles of course has a great voice along with Amber Benson.

Buy this CD and you won't be disappointed as you will be singing the lyrics as well. That tells you the composer, lyrics writer has done is job! Fantastic! Bravo, Joss Whedon, Staff and performers of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Thank You
Karen

Free Music Review: A Gift for Buffy Fans Only
Hit: 5 Stars

As a loyal Buffy fan I immediately ordered by copy of the Once More With Feeling soundtrack as soon as it became available. I throughly enjoyed the soundtrack, and currently it is being played over and over again in my jeep's CD player. Having watched the musical episode just as many times, it was easily to visualize the scenes as they progressed and I had no trouble understanding the segues or fillers, such as "They Got the Mustard Out." However, if you are NOT a Buffy fan this is not the CD for you, and may perhaps turn you off from exploring the world that is BTVS. Unless you can fully understand the premise of the episode, you might be inclined to think this CD self-indulgent of the brillant Joss Whedon. Especially since, it is clear, that few of the cast are professional singers. Still shout outs to Amber Benson and Anthony Stewart Head, whose performances both individually and together (in a brillant piece of music) made me want to hear more. Also, both Sarah Michelle Gellar, singing for the first time, and James Marsters, who is inching into the music world, deliver great performances...what they lack in musical training they make up for with sheer charisma. Overall, a must-have for the Buffy fanatic!

Free Music Review: Why bother?
Hit: 5 Stars

Everyone else seems to rate it high so why shouldn't I? Honestly though, like most of these reviewers I'm a hardcore Buffy fan and this soundtrack is not to be missed! This episode, with the singing *reminded me of Cop Rock* could have been doomed from the start, but it turned out to be a very entertaining hour and some odd minutes of TV. The songs were well written and *you couldn't expect less from Joss could you?* the songs STICK in your head! I remember shortly after this episode aired I was humming these songs and singing them at work, and it drove me crazy! I supose 'crazy' in a good way though.

Maybe these aren't songs you want to hear constantly running through your brain while doing work you hate but, while you are just sitting around at home they are a lot of fun.
Anyway, there are a lot of extras with this. The demo with Joss & his wife was a great thing to throw in.
The cast itself can sing just fine also...with the exception of poor Willow.

Spike/Giles/Tara/Anya all shine on this soundtrack/episode.
This is truly something that no Buffy fan can be without. With the show being over and everything it's a great thing to hang onto. Us hardcore Buffy freaks need something don't we?

Free Music Review: I played it over and over and over...
Hit: 5 Stars

Once More with Feeling was the first "Buffy..." episode I had seen. My daughter forced me to watch it on her computer screen last fall (2006), as I sat uncomfortably on the edge of her bed, waiting to spring up in annoyance at any moment.
When the end credits rolled, I was still singing along. I fell in love with the characters immediately. What I had initially thought of as sophomoric nonsense had actually entertained me...impressed me.
It was not that I was opposed to ridiculous plots and fantastic tales, just that I had not connected to the whole idea of vampire humor. Spending more time with my 19-year-old daughter and her highly emotional girlfriends (who are usually stretched out all over my flat) has allowed me to relax and see the beauty in undead dramedy.
I bought this soundtrack, the whole series box set, and (eventually) the Angel box set as well. After 4 months of Buffy, Angel, Giles, Spike, Cordy, Willow, Anya, Gunn, and Xander each night, I am still in love with the Buffyverse and this soundtrack. It has taken on a life aside from the actual episode from which it sprang.
I recommend this CD to any Buffy fan, musical/rock opera fan, Joss W. fan, or fellow music fan.
