Free Music Review: Overall an excellent album.

Well I got the CD today so I thought I would share my first reactions to a few of the songs: Hateful-No Doubt: This is No Doubt sounding like No Doubt doing a cover. Perfect if your a fan. The Urge-This is Radio Clash: Great cover, closer to the re-mix than the A-Side of the single. Ice Cube and Mack 10: This isn't a cover. Sounds like an overproduced song with a few samples from the Clash. Rancid-Cheat: Fantastic cover, raw powerful instruments and lyrics. One of the few bands that can come close to recreating the energy that the Clash was able to. If the Clash ever tour again, these guys have to open. Third Eye Blind-Train in Vain: If you ever heard Mick Jones live you will be amazed by the likeness. Indigo Girls-Clampdown: Why did they let these chicks record for this album? Very insulting. The Might Mighty Boostones-Rudie Can't Fall: Good cover of a great song. 311-White Man in Hammersmith Palais: Great cover of an excellent song. Afghan Whigs-Lost in the Supermarket: Fruity, airy cover. Cracker-White Riot: Cracker does a very mellow version this orginally angry song. I agree with the Amazon review on this one, you would expect to find this cover on an early Camper Van Beethoven album. Silver Chair-London Calling: Silver Chair's cover blew me away! When I saw that Silver Chair was going to be on this album I rolled my eyes, boy was I wrong! This was the best cover on the whole album. These guys pumped it out. Moby featuring Heather Nova-Straight to Hell: Very pretty but this will but you to sleep if you're not careful. This album just can not compare to magic that The Clash created but there are a few pleasant surprises and overall an excellent album.
