i came across this band on Amazon, as it was mentioned as a band i would like based on past purchases. i was not disapppointed, thank you Amazon!!! my current CD listening lineup includes bands like Fragments of Unbecoming, In Flames, Threat Signal, The Human Abstract, Insomnium, etc. Burning Skies is similar in style to a few of these, but what really caught my attention was the intnesity. Most of the songs have a raw, brutal aggression that seems to be lacking from many modern metal bands of late. The vocals don't stray too far from the death genre, which is a good thing, because it fits the speed and heaviness of how they play. The drummer uses blast beats, but is careful not to "over use" them. I highly recommend this album if you're into ultra heavy, emo-killing, brutal metal. ps- i also own their first album, and i think this one is half a step up from that. good bands usually make progress between albums, and Burning Skies is no exception. An excellent buy!
