Byron Cage's album is aptly entitled 'An invitation to worship', this title largely sums up the feel of this album, both the smooth ballads and catchy bouncy tracks reveal an attitude of pure adoration, worship and praise. His first track, which moves into a reprise, 'I will bless the Lord', begins with a hint of Kirk Franklin especially the holler and call of the reprise track. His worship possesses the qualities of Fred Hammond with his passion and purpose for praise and glorifying the father. The dulcet silky smoothness of his tones on 'majesty' encourages one's soul to ponder gently on the 'worthiness' and 'greatness' of our God.
Cage's tributes to the Almighty, act as a reminder of the glory of the God, we serve, his epithets ushers us into the very throne room of God, as he encourages us to offer the Lord our true worship as we revel in his presence.
In `He reigns' the names of God are used to exalt him and remind the listener of his power, glory and omnipotence.
`Holy, holy, holy', stirs the listen up to worship, `praise him' is reminiscent of old skool church worship, whilst all of these and `lift him up' are feel good tracks, which get the worshipper on their feet, dancing, clapping, praising and worshipping the Lord along with Cage. 'Worship the King' will be a favorite with its smooth yet bouncy funky groove.
We have rated Byron Cage highly for his brand of urban contemporary praise and worship, which is both uplifting and posses the feel good factor at the same time, even offering to teach the listener a dance routine.
