Free Music Notes for C.W. McCall - Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: Fun and interesting songs
Hit: 5 Stars

C.W. McCall (nope, there was no one in the band with that name) was the creation of Billy Dale Fries. The idea for the group and the songs came from a series of advertising features Fries created for the Metz Baking Company, that included a trucker named C.W. McCall! Well, the rest, as they say, is history! Combining the work of Billy Fries, Chip Davis (of Mannheim Steamroller fame) and a number of other talents, C.W. McCall produced a number of songs that were quite popular in their time.

I must admit, I am getting nostalgic at this point in my life, and I really wanted to hear some of the great C.W. McCall songs again, so my loving wife went out and got this album for me. It's a great album, full of the great songs that I remember. Yeah, Convoy was their biggest hit, but it actually isn't one of my favorites. I love The Silverton, Four Wheel Drive, and Aurora Borealis.

I am so happy playing this album, which I do all the time. My son said that it reminded him of that trucker movie (Smokey and the Bandit), and it is from the same era and genre. Overall, I think this is a great album, with lots of fun and interesting songs. I love this album, and highly recommend it.

Free Music Review: Once -you'll hate. Twice - eh. Three times - your favorite
Hit: 5 Stars

The first time you listen to this cd, you will think that it is the stupidiest thing that you have ever heard. It sounds really funny, and it doesn't make sence. On the second time, you'll understand a little more what he is talking about. After the third time, you'll want to listen to it so much that you will have every word of every song memorised. If you don't belive me try it for your self. I have played it for all my friends. They listened to everything from Beastie boys and White Zombie, down to Chris LeDoux and Garth Brooks. After the third time of listening to this CD, most of them went out and bougt there own. C.W. McCall sounds as though he really belives in what he is singing. There is nothing fake about him. This CD would make a great addition to your collection. The worst part about him is that most the rest of his stuff is out of print. That will drive you crazy

Free Music Review: one of the best forgotten gems of the 70s
Hit: 5 Stars

Contrary to a previous reviewer, CW McCall isn't Chip Davis... technically it's Chip Davis' music and the words and voice of William Fries, who has used the name CW McCall for other projects that used his voice...

However, that point is moot, when you slap the disc in and have a wave of memories overtake you like it did me (My dad wore out his "Black Bear Road" 8 track and mourned its loss ever since- till I bought two copies of this disc... one for him and one for me.. ).

Well, all I can really say is that they don't make em like this anymore.

Free Music Review: An all-time favorite and classic.
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a '70's rock-and-roll fan from Gainesville, Florida, and probably always will be a fan of classic rock. I own over one hundred CD's, and CW McCall is my only Country Music CD. "Roses for Mama" is one of my top-10 all time favorites. The Voice of CW McCall will always be a classic, and this rock-and-roll kid always finds herself moving and dancing to his tunes!
