There are some amazing cuts on this set. Pieces, such as Redenci?n, that preview the the collaborations with Andy Garcia. You can hear Armando (Chocolate) Armenteros, one of the finest trumpeters ever (anywhere), really show off his talent. Or Cachao's brother, Orestes (Macho)...
Ultimately, however, these are descargas (or jam sessions) with all that entails. Also unfortunate is that many, most cuts reflect that time when musicians were required say what they needed to say in roughly 3 minutes.
