Free Music Review: A fine tribute to a great artist

This 3 CD set is a nice collection of the work of the great flamenco singer Camaron de la Isla who rode a huge wave of popularity among aficionados before his early death in 1992. Camaron is in top form here and is accompanied by flamenco guitarists Paco de Lucia and Tomatito, two giants of the genre today. The CDs are categorized as "Fundamentos", "Grandezas" and "Apoteosis", perhaps as a summary of Camaron's progress and changes throughout his career. The booklet has a few nice photos of the singer but the linear notes are in Spanish, which is a drawback for those who don't read or understand Spanish. Most anthologies that ambitiously combine a three disc set will usually include English, French and German translations but this minor cavil should not detract from a fine music tribute to this young man who left us much to soon.
