Free Music Notes for Camelot (Original Broadway Cast)

Free Music Review: Happily ever aftering
Hit: 5 Stars

The music alone should have made this show a success. It's filled with memorable melodies and lyrics, particularly "I Wonder What the King Is Doing Tonight?", "The Simple Joys of Maidenhood", "Camelot", "C'est Moi", "The Lusty Month of May", and many more. Julie Andrews carries the whole recording with her beautiful singing in the role of Guenevere. The book (dialogue)is what caused this show trouble, but with a little adjustment here and there, it could well go down as one of the most beloved musicals of all time.

Free Music Review: Camelot 1960 OBC - Subperb Performance
Hit: 5 Stars

If you are like I and have not heard the original Broadway cast version since it was out on vinyl in the 60's you are in for a treat. The digital version brings out sound qualities I never knew existed. Listening to a young Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet with the unmistakeable voice of the great Richard Burton sing on this CD is like stepping back in time 45 years. You close your eyes and you can see the actors performing. You glance into the audiance and see young President John Kennedy alongside the ravishing Jaquelyn Kennedy. It's well worth purchasing.

Free Music Review: A Great Soundtrack-Will be enjoyed for many years to come!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Even though I'm only 12, I have loved this recording since I was a baby. When I went to see the play at age 9, Robert Goulet was King Arthur. By then, I knew every song by memory. When I lose the CD, I tear the whole house apart looking for it! This is a soundtrack worth keeping forever! I know that I will NEVER grow tired of hearing Camelot. I always recite the last part of the song for all my friends, and tell the whole story of Camelot (including every little detail that I've researched)! An 8th grader should know better than that!

Free Music Review: You can't go wrong
Hit: 5 Stars

Richard Burton, Julie Andrews and Robert Goulet. How could you go wrong? They really don't make them like this anymore. Jay Lerner's fantastic songs and a wonderful treatment of T.H. White's "The Once and Future King", one of the greatest novels of the twentieth century, this cd is a must have for any fan of great musicals and probably all of us baby-boomers who still remember our country's own Camelot.
"Don't let it be forgot, that once there was a spot, for one brief shining moment That was known as Camelot."

Free Music Review: A Wonderful Time Capsule
Hit: 5 Stars

Another wonderful Columbia remaster, giving us the chance to enjoy this album for many years to come. It's unfortunate that this comes from the vinyl days when recordings were tailored to fit 331/3 rpm's and radio airplay. Thus, some of the score is not there or has been changed, but to hear Julie Andrews at the top of her game makes this album a worthy buy. Think about it, she went from The Boyfriend, to My Fair Lady, to Cinderella, to London's My Fair Lady, to Camelot, all in a span of 5-6 years! What a career!
