Free Music Review: This is a true 'Desert Island' CD

If I were to choose only 10 CD's for that hypothetical desert island, this would be an easy, hands-down choice.
The range of material is amazing. The smooth, funk-based "It is the Law!" is a true standout. It is what hip-hop wishes it could be when it grows up and handled by someone with talent.
There is a great trio of standards - "Who can I turn to", "How do you keep the music playing" and "My Funny Valentine". These are all in the pantheon of great performances of great material.
"Who can I" and "How do you" are clearly, far-and-away, no questions asked, the best renditions anywhere ever committed to vinyl, plastic, or file. Include comparisons to Tony Bennett (I have that one, too.) Either one of these tracks is worth the full price of the CD.
Some have questioned the recording and some have praised it. Technically speaking, you might find some pops and squeeks that you would not find in a studio CD. I find the performance is so enhanced and the quality and tone of the vocal recording so great that I am sooooo glad this was recorded live.
Note on CD listing: in the CDBD, tracks 4 and 5 are reversed in comparison to the actual CD. That is true on the track listing on this page in Amazon.
