Free Music Notes for So Much BetterFree Music Review: Thought You Should Know Ballard Hit: 5 StarsThought every woman out there should know that this is one beautiful song that will bring tears to your eyes and tug at your heartstrings. Don't know where this young man learned to woo women with the lyrics he sings in a song but it's working. Just when you thought there was no more good r&b music out there, he comes up with music to make you want to listen again. I have followed this young brothers career in music and decided no matter what, he can't make a bad song. I pay homage to his parents for raising such a talented and gifted young man who seems to know exactly what to say and how to treat women. I have nothing but great respect for this young man and his music and it would have been a shame if he never made it. I thank Sean Combs for putting him on.
What a very beautiful gift you are Carl Thomas to the world of music, and thank you for recognizing what women want to hear. Keep on doing it and don't stay away so long, we need you.

Free Music Review: Carl Thomas Never Disappoints! Hit: 4 StarsCarl Thomas' new project is EXACTLY the way I expected it to be. He stays true to his own style and gives the listeners what they want.
Free Music Review: I love that man's sultry voice... Hit: 4 StarsThe first time I listened to this CD I loved it! I immediately fell in love with tracks like "Thought You Should Know," "So Much Better" & "Late Night Rendezvous"...or even "Say I Do"...I love the entire thing. I look forward to the next album. I'm a devoted fan! And with a voice like Carl's who can blame me?!! I would love to hear Carl Thomas do a track with Boney James. Hmmm...if he reads this...I hope he'll make a dream come true.
Free Music Review: 3-1/2 stars -- Borderline average, and here's why... Hit: 3 StarsIt's always been hard to say what kind of fanbase Carl Thomas would generate. He's not exactly neo-soul, yet you wouldn't find any of his songs playing in the club either. And he was sort of touted as Bad Boy Records' savior back in 2000 due to the strength of "I Wish" as well as the album Emotional as a whole, but then he disappeared and his second album Let's Talk About It, although good, went away almost as quickly as it emerged. And I can pretty much say the same about his latest album, So Much Better.
I'm not even sure what label this album is on (allmusic.com lists the label as "Indie"), but whatever the case, the album isn't quite as exciting as it could have been. First off, in contrast to his first two albums, he hardly writes anything on here; he only CO-writes two or three tracks. But the main thing is that this doesn't necessarily sound like Carl Thomas; it sounds like ANYone could be singing these songs. Another thing that drives this point home is that the guest vocalists usually only sing background vocals during the chorus, like Lalah Hathaway on "Thought You Should Know" and Dave Hollister on "Can't Get Over".
There are also a few missteps, like the uninteresting dancehall vibe of "Oh No (You Can't Be Serious)", which took the words right out of my mouth. And there's a second version of it at the end of the album that features E-40 rapping about God knows what. But when it gets right down to it, although this album is above-average (well, slightly), it's really another case where it feels like it's made up of songs that didn't make the previous albums. It's still worth playing in the house, but we all know that Carl can do so much better.

Free Music Review: So Much Better Than Ne-Yos New CD! Hit: 5 StarsI LOVE THIS MAN'S ALBUMS! He never disappoints! The voice! The lyrics! The music! I have all of Carl Thomas' work and one of the reviews concerned me. But I purchased it anyway particularly since the review said he should have gotten NeYos new CD. Well I have Ne-Yos 2nd CD and I was considering writing in for my money back - because it is nothing compared to his 1st CD! So I'm glad I didn't listen to the naysayer. If you enjoy smooth, sexy music then you must purchase this. I am sitting at work with headphones on...and I cannot stop rocking and thinking about my husband.....And song #4 "I Thought You Should Know"....drives me crazy! I have hit repeat on that one 4 times this morning. LOVE IT! And I'm wondering why I'm writing this review...knowing I have work to do. Thinking I'm too old for this but I just had to let you know...don't listen to the negative reviews. It's classic Carl Thomas. I LOVED his last album too. And I love this one as well. I won't say that it's better than any of his others. I'll say that it's just like the others. As a matter of fact I don't know which one of his albums I like best. I love them all! Keep going Carl Thomas. Please don't ever stop making music. I get so worried that my favorite artists won't make more albums when they aren't as recognized as some of the wanna be artists - like Omarion. I guess I'm just old school - by the way - I'm 42....I love music! And if you really enjoy good music too then you'll love anything by Carl Thomas!
