Free Music Review: Awesome CD! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a very upbeat CD! Carman loves God and is using the wonderful gift God has given to him.
Free Music Review: And the winnah, by TKO... Hit: 4 Stars
The name "Carman" is synonymous with Christian music. Almost anyone who has ever listened to Christian music has at least heard of him, and one of the main reasons for this is the fact that as an artist, he can do it all. And he has! Rock, rap, soul (both regular and extra-spicy Caribbean), country/western, contemporary, dance, house...you name it, Carman's not only done it, but done it splendidly. This latest mammoth collection of greatest hits is a testament to Carman's versatility. I was taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotion listening to both CDs. High-energy rap and dance tunes like "Who's in the House" and "Addicted to Jesus" gave way to heartfelt ballads ("Hunger for Holiness") and straight-up praise songs ("Let the Fire Fall"), then detoured into a bit of country ("Satan, Bite the Dust!"), then dipped into a James-Bond-esque theme ("Mission 3:16")...you get the idea. There's a flavor of every kind in this collection, and it makes for a very entertaining and uplifting listen. There are also 6 brand-new songs, some of which are in Carman's new movie ("The Champion"), and they're awesome. "Faith Enough" has got to be my favorite; my heart soars every time I hear it. And what's a "greatest hits" comp without his greatest hit of all, "The Champion"? The song's over ten years old, and hasn't lost a bit of luster; a chilling and exciting tale of the last battle between God's son and the Devil. Overall, this is a great compilation of songs from his most recent years, and it's a no-brainer for any fan of the ultimate musical storyteller. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Free Music Review: Oldies and New Goodies Hit: 4 Stars
Well, this one's very nostalgic for me, because I knew nearly all of the songs featured on this thirty song retrospective. My favorites are more often Carman's praise and worship songs like "I Feel Jesus" and "Let the Fire Fall" as well as spiritual songs like "Hunger for Holiness" and "The River" which have been strengths to me for many years. Of course the album also features several of the story-songs for which Carman has become known. For long-time Carman fans this one's a must-have, if only for the the fact that it's got 'em all in one place. For those of you who have never heard Carman before, or know very little of his music, this is a very good sampling of what he has put out over his more than twenty-five year career. The new material here is very characteristic of Carman. Lyrically, the songs are all very strong testaments to God's power, love, and faithfulness. I'd have to say "Faith Enough" is my favorite of the new batch, because it's just a terrific pop tune, and ZOEGirl are great in thier background vocals. Overall, I've enjoyed the cd and I'd recommend it to anyone who would appreciate a Christian album full of worship, fun, and of course, spiritual significance. It's not about Carman, it's not about music, it's about Jesus, period.
Free Music Review: Heart of a Great Man Hit: 4 Stars
Carman has led over 1 million people to Christ. It's no suprise as Carman music and showmanship have gathered crowds. I saw him yesterday and let me tell you this man is trully blessed by God. Heart of a Champion is a fine collection, but I think His Absolute Best is a better collection. Heart of a Champion has some good songs on it. "Great God", "Who's in the House?", "Satan, Bite the Dust", "America Again", "My Story", "I've Been Delievered", "Sunday School Rock", and "The Champion". The new hits are pretty cool including the title track, "Faith Enough", and "Just Like He Said". Carman looks to be headed a new direction and it looks like its pretty bright path. Some songs are missing though like "Holy Ghost Hop" from Addicted to Jesus Album. And he's missing "The Courtroom" from Mission 3:16. Still a very good collection. I recommend getting His Absolute Best first and then this album. Wait until Carman reaches 2 million souls won. I can't wait!
