Free Music Review: not very good.

I must admit, I'm not a deathcore hater. I mean, I've enjoyed Glass Casket's "Desperate Man's Diary" and that was classy deathcore. But there this thin line which separates the acceptable deathcore, from atrocious deathcore. Carnifex clearly cross that line, more than often, to the atrocious side. Breakdowns are okay if well implemented, like I've said a thousand times, about Between the Buried and Me. Maybe these guys should learn something from their not-so-brutal-but-way-much-better cousins of "core".
I guess I wasn't much of impressed when I heard their first song (first impressions are the most important to me) which can be summed like this: ordinary deathcore vocals, from the beginning to the end, the most simplistic riffs ever made, and 2 totally predictable and unnecessary "br00t4l" breakdowns (by the way, there's an average of 3 breakdowns per song, just thought you should know...). Trying to transform it in words, for better understanding isn't hard at all. It would be something like this "dum dum dum(one chord simple riff), BOOM BOOM BOOOM(breakdown), dum dum dum(another simple riff) then BOOM BOOM(equally vomit inducing as the first) and then BOOM...BOOOM...BOOOOM(the same second breakdown, but even slower)". Looks great, right?... There is another thing that made me made while listening to this, being that, the utterly atrocious quotes sampled from movies, that added nothing, absolutely nothing to the song, consisting in... Well, you might want to hear it from yourself.
So, wow, the vocals sound the same as any other deathcore band plaguing the metal scene nowadays. It seems like there is only one vocalist singing in all those bands, the same terrible "wannabe-death-esque" growls stain this album, just like the ordinary pig squeals, a.k.a. "BREE BREE BREEEE". It is so annoying that not even the vocals sound the same as any other band of the same genre, but also the sonority in general sounds the same. This band could have written in the album cover "As Blood Runs Black" or "With Blood Comes Cleansing", that I would blindly believe it... Like I said above, the riffs are as soulless as a decomposed hippo's corpse, which leads to inevitable yawns, which eventually lead to you to falling totally asleep. I would dare saying Carnifex are almost as bad as Waking the Cadaver... The only thing that separates them from WTC is the fact of having "riffs" and WTC having managed to somehow, build songs consisting in one long breakdown, which Carnifex aren't all that far away from...
The only song that could not be considered pure garbage is "Dead in MyArms", although maintaining their tradition in breaking the song with 3 breakdowns, they still pulled off a riff at the beginning, which resembles some second-rate melodic death metal band. Still, it is their first "real" riff in the album but it's in the last song(haha) and looks like a watered-down version. The creation of this riff may have tired them almost to death, since it looks like their "greatest achievement" so far.
There's really not much to say about this horrid album named "Dead in My Arms". Only deathcore fans would certainly love this , that's for sure, but, to any other type of metalheads, avoid it.
