Free Music Notes for Room With a ViewFree Music Review: Rising Star Hit: 5 Stars
Her debut single, Georgia, gives a glimpse of Johnson's vocal talent, while re-emphasizing her ability to pen a song about real feelings and intimate struggles. This song is just one example of Johnson's ability as a vocalist to inject just enough feeling and heart without overpowering the beautifully simplistic message of her song. The following single Complicated is something many people could relate to, about the complications of being in love and knowing its real or if its not. The Canadian version (which I have) includes 2 extra tracks, on top of the 11 on the US one. They are Tumble and Roll and Not Enough To Stay, both wonderful songs. However the highlights on ROOM WITH A VIEW are I Don't Want You To Go and Tumble And Roll, both of which were written by CDJ but Mindy McCready recorded them first for her 1999 album IM NOT SO TOUGH (however I Dont Want You To Go is only on the UK version). As a sample of what Carolyn Dawn Johnson has to offer, here is a cd that won't disappoint, no matter what your mood. There is no doubt that we'll be hearing more from this talented Canadian artist as her star keeps rising.
Free Music Review: She's fabulous- that's all there is to it! Hit: 5 Stars
Carolyn Dawn Johnson has been in the music industry as an esteemed songwriter long before coming out with her debut album. She put her lyrical talents to work on this album, coming up with thoughtful and creative lyrics that are well above average. However it is not only the lyrics that make the album superb. Everything from the catchy tunes, clever arrangements and background vocals, not to mention Carolyn Dawn Johnson's sweet soprano voice, is what makes the album so above average. Each of the 11 songs on the cd are great, my favorites being "Georgia," "Little bit of this, little bit of that" (on this track, she really lets her 'inner diva' show through with her vocals), and "I Don't Want You to Go." Another plus is that the album is more accessible to a wider audience because it's not heavily "twangy," so people who don't necessarily like country but like pop or rock might find that they love this album. Give "Room With a View" a chance, you won't be dissappointed!
Free Music Review: A Beautiful Album Hit: 5 Stars
I purchased this album just because of two songs that I liked, "Complicated" and "I Don't Want You To Go." I was hoping that I would enjoy the rest of the CD- I did. Carolyn Dawn Johnson has a fulfilling career ahead of her because each and every song on this album is absolutely perfect. One of my favorites is "I'll Think of You That Way," which is about a woman who has just broken up with her significant other and saying that instead of remembering the bad times of their relationship, she'll think of the good times they had together. Another major plus is that Carolyn wrote/co-wrote all of these songs on this album, which very few female country singers do. I highly recommend buying this masterpiece, "Room With a View." You will not be disappointed.
Free Music Review: WOMAN WITH A FUTURE Hit: 5 Stars
What's most impressive about Carolyn Dawn Johnson's debut CD is the range of emotion she vocally and musically expresses, on a range of subjects. Her tribute to her brother in "Room With a View" and to the doomed family in "Masterpiece" are two prime examples. Her hits, "Georgia," and particularly "Complicated" have demonstrated her ability to create radio-friendly tunes and complex musical compositions. Kim Carnes who gave us "Bette Davis Eyes" back in the eighties contributes her talents to "A Little Bit of This, a Little Bit of That," a very catchy and rhythmic up-tempo winner. A Writer for years, Ms. Johnson can rest comfortably that she has a career as a vocalist as well.
Free Music Review: This is one of the best CD's I've ever purchased Hit: 5 Stars
From top to bottom, Room With A View from Carolyn Dawn Johnson is about as good as it gets. You've probably all heard "Georgia" and "Complicated". They are both excellent songs, but the amazing thing about this cd is that there are 9 more excellent songs just like those 2. There isn't a single song that makes you skip forward on this cd. If you buy one country cd in the next few weeks, make sure it is this one. Truly a Masterpiece. It is no suprise that Carolyn won 5+ awards at the Canadian Country Music Awards held in September. She kicks butt!!
