Free Music Review: All-American Girl Makes Me Proud
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great county-pop album! Carrie mixes soulful singing with attiude, emotional and great songwriting, and a nice combination of country, pop, and rock sounds. Released in 2007, its been a while since a country artist (with pop dreams) has been able to produce an album with this type of longevity. Its 2009 and Carrie is still releasing hit singles from this album. Shania Twain's Come On Over was the last country-pop album to give country music some excitement. However, after this album, I don't think no one is missing Shania. Best songs are:

All-American Girl -heartwarming lyrics with a easy flow. Carrie's vocals make this song better.
Just a Dream - everytime I hear this song and see the video I want to cry. I love how the song builds into a story.
Crazy Dreams - very catchy tune for all those big dreamers. I love how they made the country instruments groove on this song!
I Told You So - this is a classic by Randy Travis, but Carrie's vocals take the song to new heights.
I Know You Won't- this girl can really blow on this song about longing for love.
Last Name- attitude all the way. Tells a story...think Britney Spears.

Carrie Underwood is becoming one of the giants in country music. Just recently she became the 7th woman to win "Entertainer of the Year". I hope Carrie continues to follow her dream (she is developing into a strong songwriter) and to continue to strive for the best. The only complaint I have is she tends to over-sing, but she is still young and developing her sound so you can't hold it against her. Great album!! Can't wait for number 3 this Fall.

Free Music Review: Great second album
Hit: 5 Stars

Carnival Ride is Fifty minutes and twenty-eight seconds long and was released on October 23, 2007. Carnival Ride reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums & U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart and went Double Platinum. The album won the American Music Award for Favorite Country Album in 2008. It has on it four number one country hits. They are: So Small, All-American Girl, Last Name, and Just A Dream. So Small lasted the longest at three weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs. As a person who is not a big fan of country music, this is a great CD. Carnival Ride by Carrie Underwood gets an AAA+++.

Free Music Review: What a Wonderful Ride 5 Stars

This album is an amazing journey by an amazing artist. Though I loved her first album, Carnival Ride takes it to a whole new level, in terms of artistry and carrie's growth as a person and artist. Her vocals are even better on this album- and I didn't think she could get any better. At times she is flying so high she will never come down, then the next minute you will cry, laugh, reflect, dance, and shout at the top of your lungs with the top down on your car. My favorite song is Wheel of the World, with Flat on the Floor, Just a Dream, All aMerican Girl, and Get out of This Town close seconds. Truly, there is not a bad song on the album- it is so wonderful! You really feel Carrie's pain and joy here- you really get to know who she is as a person, a lot more, on this wonderful carnival ride, of ups and downs, twists and turns, which is life. She also shows real promise as a songwriter, and I am so happy this album has received wonderful critical reviews from all the major publiclations--ie, USA Today, NY Times, All Music Guide, Boston Globe, etc. This is a warm, happy, exciting ride that you won't want to get off. And by the way-- it is alot more country and rootsy then her first album too, so even traditionalists should enjoy this album, especially I Told YOu So, which she sings with Vince Gill. Enjoy the journey! :)

(heck all of them!)

Grade: Music Review: THE QUEEN OF COUNTRY 5 Stars This cd is unbelievable and deserves all the kudos and awards it has received. Carrie Underwood's first cd was a powerhouse seller and also garnered her critical acclaim and tons of awards. But as with any artist it is the second release that showcases their creativity and true talent.

This cd far surpasses the first, which I loved, in song selection, vocal performance and interpretation and Carrie proves herself a true unique talent with her own special gifts.

I can put this cd in my player and let it run over and over for there is no filler here for me. But there are certainly some highlights. ALL AMERICAN GIRL allows Carrie to hit some notes never heard before. Her interpretation of I TOLD YOU SO is heartfelt and very much her own. But it is the standout I KNOW YOU WON'T a weepy ballad that Carrie turns into raw emotion that will stun you. She holds notes forever and puts all her range and capabilities into it. I find this song as much a classic as Linda Ronstadt doing DESPERADO. Of course the uptempo FLAT ON THE FLOOR and LAST NAME are awesome.

I am thrilled with how openly Carrie Underwood has been accapted into the country music community for she is what the genre stands for. A true country girl with talent, charm and unique gifts with a very honest, positive message. Her career is laid out for her. She is one of the rare finds of this decade.

Carrie Underwood rules.

Free Music Review: Carrie conquers contemporary country
Hit: 5 Stars

The second album from Carrie Underwood packs slightly less punch than her debut, but is still more than enough to further cement her place in the contemporary country hierarchy. Solidly country, this album showcases Underwood as a singer/songwriter with writing credits on four of the tracks - first single "So Small"; the excellent "All American Girl"; "Crazy Dreams" and the comedy track "Last Name". (If you liked Alan Jackson's "I Don't Even Know Your Name", you'll see lots of similarities to the aforementioned "Last Name".)

All the tracks are worth a listen, but some are immediately worth an instant replay. My recommendations are:

Flat on the Floor - a hard-rocking track with attitude
All-American Girl - instant single material with heartwarming lyrics
So Small - soaring first single about not sweating the small stuff
Just a Dream - a tear jerker with a wonderful chorus
Crazy Dreams - catchy beat just slightly reminiscent of Pink Floyd's "Education"
I Told You So - slow ballad written by Randy Travis
Wheel of the World - an easy listening track with inspired backing music

If the four tracks on which she has songwriting credits are any indication, Carrie Underwood has nowhere to go but up - should be a wild ride. (4.5 stars)
