Free Music Review: All Good Things...
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is totally God inspired. Not only is the music great, but the lyrics are amazing. This is an amazing group. The females in the group are strong. Great voices. This CD is not only convicting, but uplifting, too. Reminds me of my real purpose, no matter what may come up. Good dynamics. Has a great melody.Harmony is pretty good too.

#1 "What If His People Prayed"- This piece has such convicting
lyrics. This one tells of the power of prayer. The lead
singer uses his voice so well.

#2 "If We Are the Body"- Wow. Reminds me I have a part to play
in the body of Christ!

#3 "Voice Of Truth"- Again, WOW! This song tells of how we, as
Christians need to step out in faith and trust God, like the
men on the boat. ;)

#4 "Who Am I"- Powerful. About unmerited favor.

#5 "American Dream"- "I'd take a shack on a rock over a castle
in the sand." That hits home.

#6 "Here I Go Again"- Tells of how we need to get over our fear
and consider someones future eternity.

#7 "Praise You With the Dance"- Just one of those great worship
with brethren songs.

#8 "Glory"- Another great worship song. This one stays in my
head for a while.

#9 "Life of Praise"- Mostly sung by the females of the group.
Awesome. Has very catchy beat.

#10 "Your Love Is Extravagent"- Great choice of vocabulary. One
of those songs you'd sing straight to the Lord.

Free Music Review: Debut of the Year
Hit: 5 Stars

I really didn't intend to buy this CD yet. I was just going to listen to a demo and get it later. But after listening to the demo, I had to buy it. It's that good.

The CD opens with two very challenging songs to the church at large. "What if His People Prayed" is a challenge about the forgotten power of prayer. I expect to here it as the theme for the National Day of Prayer in the future. "If We Are the Body" challenges us to reach out to those in need. Both are needed in my life, and are presented with catchy melodies that help you think about them even when you aren't listening to this CD.

The next two tracks are an encouragement to Christians. "Voice of Truth" is a prayer for more faith and a commitment to listen to God, who gives it. "Who Am I" is the kind of song I love, an expression of wonder and gratitude that "the Lord of all creation would care to know my name."

"American Dream" reminds us to slow down and not get caught up in the world around us. And "Here I Go Again" is a prayer for the courage to share our faith with others.

The last four songs are praise choruses. While they are good, they don't hold up to the song writing of the first six songs, which alone are enough to make the price of the CD worth while.

With catchy melodies and thought provoking lyrics, this CD should do well at radio and win the group many new fans. I'm enjoying this release immensely and look forward to whatever they may come up with next.

Free Music Review: "Simply amazing..." "Two thumbs way up!..." by BJ
Hit: 5 Stars

As I sit here and try to write this review, I can't think of the right words to say--this CD is just so good that I'm not surprised at all that it was RIAA-certified multi-platinum. With outstanding lyrics, Casting Crowns' mega-hit debut easily deserves 5 stars.
This group really does deserve all the hype and awards that it's getting--after all, they are the first Christian artist in HISTORY to have that artist's first three albums to be RIAA-certified gold or platinum. (I'm including the LIVE Concert release, which also was certified gold).
This truly amazing album includes the hits "What If His People Prayed", a song with a tremendous message, "If We Are The Body", a song to the church, "Who Am I", "Voice Of Truth", and "American Dream". This album's fabulous lyrics and producing reflect the songwriting talents of lead-singer Mark Hall and the producing talents of Steven Curtis Chapman. Definitely a perfect gift for someone who enjoys Christian music, because these guys obviously know what they're doing. The best debut I've heard in a while, and the best overall album since Dove Award winning, GRAMMY-winning hit-maker group Avalon's 2001 gold release, "Oxygen" (which is also HIGHLY recommended!!)
Other songs include: "Here We Go Again", "Your Love Is Extravagant", and more.
Overall, excellent job in every aspect--you will definitely be pleased if you purchase this album!!!:)

Free Music Review: the full package
Hit: 5 Stars

A gripe I have with many Christian bands is that they don't seem to be able to wrap up meaningful lyrics, strong music, passion and personality in one consistent package. When I first heard "If We Are the Body" from this album, I was very impressed. Would the rest of the album consist of one or two more great songs and then seven or eight duds?

Nope. While the first six songs and the last four songs are dramatically different in theme and tone, all are extremely well-written, insightful and powerful. Mark Hall has some of the sharpest lyrics going, exploring the power of prayer (and the absence of prayer), our responsibilities as the body of Christ, the power of faith, the power of God's grace, the futility of working for earthly treasures and the importance of our personal witness. And that's just the first six songs.

We are then thrown into four praise songs, which slightly upset the flow, but perhaps bring a much needed lift after such a deep and introspective start. While the final song, Your Love Is Extravagant, is a nice finish, to me it seems out of place as the only song without Mark Hall's contribution to lyrics and music. But hey, this is an excellent album, minor quirks and all.

Free Music Review: The music is great! The message powerful.
Hit: 5 Stars

I first heard this CD when my son brought it home from a Casting Crowns concert. I borrowed it and never gave it back. I put it in my car CD player, and it stayed there for over a month. I never got tired of it. The message is in your face, and the music ranges from somber and reflective to joyous. The female back up singers add a great compliment to Mark Halls lead vocals. The song "Praise you with the dance" has an awesome almost celtic violin solo that just lifts you up. The whole CD is fantastic and after seeing them live in concert, my wife and I bought 3 more copies to share with our friend and family for Christmas.

Mark Hall is the youth pastor at his church and still holds that position. For him and the band, its all about sharing the messege of faith. The band is actually the Youth praise band at his church. Music runs in Marks family. His father is our music minister at our Church and Mark even took time to sing in our choir at our Christmas concert at Church. He practices what he preaches. It doesn't get any more real. The power of the music can be awesome. When I saw them live I was so moved I had tears in my eyes. Thank You Casting Crowns.

Every song is a winner, you can't go wrong with this CD.
